It was easy for me cause I got kicked out at 18 and worked in restaurants for a while which took care of food to eat and how to prepare it.

As far as eating at home. Two words "ramen noodles" :D

That top notch food of olympians got me through college... I highly recommend the shrimp flavor...

Moving out was pretty easy. I took a plane from a major airport to the friendly Drill Sergeant (Army) :D.
Seriously though, it wasn't bad at all. Unless you are a complete idiot (no offense to anyone) its not
that hard to do laundry or whatever. Cooking isn't bad either. Buy a cookbook :gasp:. As for time
consuming, yes it can be. Try to make it fun, or prepare stuff that you can eat as leftovers.

When i moved into this flat, they gave me the keys, took the metal shutters off the windows and that was it, i had nothing,

Holes where windows should be, a door with no lock, no gas, no electric, but i got it sorted out within a week

To make it easier for you to get propa nutrition, I submit the following gourmet recipe:

    linear fried rice
    serves 4

boil 3 cups of water. Add 2 cups uncooked rice, cover, reduce heat to low and leave for 15 minutes. Set aside your cooked rice. In the pot, put about 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine. Turn the heat back up to medium-high or so, and fry an egg (or two!) with some salt and pepper in the butter. Once the egg is cooked off (before it starts turning brown :p), add the cooked rice back in and stir. Add a cup of frozen diced mixed vegetables (peas carrots and corn is common here). Add 4 or 5 tablespoons of soy sauce and fry until the vegetables are hot.

You could also add chicken or shrimp or meat at the end too, particularly pre-cooked leftovers. It's a nice way to get yrid of leftovers. Plus it's pretty cheap, fast, and filling, and it contains all the essential amino acids so it's good fer ya.

ramen, pasta, mac & cheese, easy mac, anything that can be easily prepared... hell salad and pasta is a full meal... cook some sausage and throw it in the sauce and you're covered... or my personal favorite, buy some full chicken wings, throw on some cajun spices, slice up some potatoes, throw them in the oven on 400F for like 30-45 minutes, open up a bag of baby carrots and you've got a full, easy to prepare meal

i obvisouly do tooo much cooking (curses gf's inability or pretend inability to cook... though she can bake like there's no tomorrow)

Beware too many "instant" foods. Mac & Cheese etc. They are fairly unhealthy if you eat them all the time.
Also, eat something other than carbohydrates once in a while. If you stop being physically active, you WILL
gain weight. Unless you're one of those freaks with a high metabolism. ;)

Home into university halls of residence (catered)....no big deal there really. Been living in a house this year, and it's fine...Canned soup and bread for the days when I can't be bothered to cook....bacon is good because it keeps a while...freezers are good too...Here's a tip...when you get there, get your parents to take you shopping. Get lots of meat and stick it in the freezer. Stock up on canned soup, and put some bread in the freezer too. I did that, and then when they came to visit a few weeks later, repeated same trick....and that's all I've needed for the entire term, except for some bread and veg. Oh, and a sandwich toaster....Cheese toasties are a life-saver.
