Mp3 Space?

    I I was just wondering how much HD space tohers are using for mp3s? Personally, I'm running about 11GB worth.

    I apologize if there's already a thread for this, I didn't find it.

    i had a clear out a month ago to about 3gb, but has grown to 5 now again :)

    4.2 Gb ... All legitimate too :D

    My CD collection will fall on me one day and destroy my room I swear.

    Yeah Kaneda, I know what you mean. I saw your post on favorite bands. I plan on posting mine tomorrow, I have to compile tonight (since I'm at work).

    BTW, 11GB is just what I'm playing with on the computer. I've got antoher approx 40-50GB more on CDRs.

    LOL... I didn`t think I had this much.....

    ~4900Mp3`s (bout 25Gb)

    and 15Gb of movies (on hard drive) + 20 CD`s with movies on, also 3.5Gb (67 episodes) of the simpsons :D

    That's on my HD, plus there's almost another 3 Gig (another 1000 or so songs) burnt on CD.

    No movies, I'm not much into having those on my comp (prefer dvd). Music, I used to work at a music store (will go unnamed) in which people sold back CDs to us. Employees got first pick, of course, and the used cds normally ran ~1-2 usd per cd. Needless to say, I've got over 5,000 cds now, all of them are ripped @ 192kbit (lame) and stored across multiple drives. I just roughly summed up the space taken, and it's approximately 439 gigs. On a UFS filesystem.

    Don't even ask about the summer I spent ripping all those cds, all I have to say is THANK GOODNESS for "grip" and "lame".

    PS - Did I mention I love music? ;)

    [Edit: I forgot to add, I'd give you the total playtime, etc, but I can't. XMMS in unix and Winamp (2 and 3) in windows crash when I try to load all of the music into the playlist. Hehe.]

    [Edit #2: It's 86,149 different songs, I just used "ls" and "wc" to get the filecount.]

    1,800 MP3's taking up 29gigs.

    quite alot of them are over 100megs big (single file)

    monolith wins. I thought I had alot when I reached 1600 albums. Well, it gives me something to strive for.

    If we ever get on a LAN with each other, and you have the space, I'll send you the whole thing. :) Then you'll have me beat! Talk about a long transfer though, even on 100mbit heh.
