    Well with or without MP3, my iPod still doubles as a portable 20 gig drive. But windows media just sucks too much.

    were the hell have those 10 years gone!

    one inacuracy i think thou, in 3.0 we got the windows media extensions, but we didn't get a wma, that was a long time later. But i was only 10 at the time, so i might be wrong.

    Err, there's no inaccuracy mate. If you read it again, what I said is that MP3 is the undisputed king of compressed audio, which I'm sure pisses off Microsoft, who would obviously rather we all used WMA

    That does kinda imply its the same generation

    wma is in the same catagory as ogg,atrac3 etc.

    Animus, you're right on the date. WMA was more circa win98 and later. But I don't think he was really meaning to imply that they're in the same generation, just that they're competing formats.

    It is so damn hard to believe it, I was a 6 year old drawing on MS paint and playing games from floppy drives when mp3 was released. :jawdrop:
