MS ban on magazine cd updates?

    I'll hopefully have BB next time a new DirectX (166Mb for 9b) or Service Pack (134Mb for XP SP1a) comes out, but it's a bit of a bugger for all them still on 56k.

    Looks like, when you visit Microsoft Update in future, instead of "No information has been sent to Microsoft" it'll say "WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE..." :worried:

    What the hell is wrong with microcrap? dont they realise their losing custom by doing that?!? - They KNOW not everyone has broadband, why else would they include 56k modem drivers??? complete ignorance on MS's side.

    Bah, what about all the hardcore 56kers like me :D

    Mine is connected 24/7 and downloading whenever i'm not at my pc!

    I've not bought a magazine for ages anyway so it doesn't really make any difference to me. :)

    This looks like part & parcel of the "mandatory update" system rumoured to be in the MS dream. WE ARE THE BORG...
    See, we want it. :rolleyes:

    Given their track record on Office Service Pack bugginess/undocumented features, they've a way to go before launching that on their users. :nono:
