Those sort of racing seats do a pretty good job of holding you in. Though I would probably still want a harness of sorts just to make sure you don't get thrown out :D

    Amazing project. Simply mind blowing.

    thanks a lot !!!

me too, and it´s already added to our plans since the first testride:D

In the last days we continued our work on the Case for the Gaming Sys....because we already started the epoxy and fibre glass work we quickly took a huge piece of metal out of the 2nd sidepanel (like we did on the first one), so that we could start to give it a new shape....

beside that we prepared a part of our new front.....

and we also cutted out a sheet of metal, which will close that big hole in the front and also brings us some more mounting points for fans etc., it will be placed behind that wood part from the picture above...

and last but not least we started to prepare the painting process on our handbreak....

    update time :D

Since our last update we had a lot of work with only a bit of progress :D ...but now we nearly finished the work on both sidepanels so that they can get painted....
But before we reached that point we had to add a few thin layers of bondo with a lot of sanding between the layers so that everything gets a nice and smooth surface....

here a pic of the outside during the process....

    and the inside.....

the same parts....only a few steps later....

and again....a few steps later...with a first layer of filler on it....

beside that we continued the work on the paintjob of our handbrake....

we also started to cut out a new part for the top of the case....

    time for the next update:

In the last days we continued the preparations on the Top and Front Part, and after a lot of sanding they will be finished in the next days....
here a few pics which we made during the process...

after that we added a first coat of primer, just to see if we had overseen a spot, so that we could overwork those.....

Beside that we also bended the prepared Mesh part for the front so that it will fit inside the second part...

and finally....the front part also gets a first coat of laquer....

    @pranja thanks a lot!!!

    update time: :D

slowly but surely we nearing completion :D

Since the last update we managed to make a lot of progress on all parts and thats really good because at the end of the month we want to join the we-mod-it.com Modding Masters @ Maker World in Friedrichshafen and up to then we had to reach a point on which we can show it on an Event like that.

So, what we´ve done in the last weeks:

We prepared the next parts for the inside of the Case, it should Cover the Front Radiator and should not kill the airflow....so we quickly made an grill on our cnc and bended it in Shape so that it can be mounted inside the Case and can be screwed to the part which we prepared last time....

after that we made a few new holes into the already prepared metal piece so that we could mount 2 SSD´s on it and get their cables through it....

Beside that we also overworked the mesh pieces for Front and Top of the Case, the Front was in need for an hole in which we could mount a Power Switch :D
And for the Top, we decided to add 2 holes so that we could attach quick connect fittings to the radiator under the top of the case, for easy infill and refill of the watercooling liquids....

As next we overworked the fan controller. That was necessary becauce in the position in which its mounted we could get in trouble with one of the fittings of the front radiator and the power plug for the Fan Controller, so we decided to flip the connector in a 90 degree angle so that everything will be fine....(naturally we also painted the front bezel of the controller, because it was just disassembled so we could save a bit of time)...:D

Thats all for now.....but with a bit of luck i can show you a new video and much more progress in the next days....

    time for an update:

In the last days we continued the work with the paintjob of the outside....first we had to prepare everything for the laquer....

then a first coat was applied....

after that, everything had to be removed so that we could sand the case and add a layer of clear coat....

After that we started the assembly of the system...

For the reservoir we printed a sleeve a few weeks ago....naturally it had to get a matching color...

then we continued the assembly process and filled the watercooling loop for a first few tests with the complete system (both PCs, Racing Wheel, Pedals, Handbrake, Arduino, plus the X-Sim Software and a game).....

after preparing everything it was finally there was finally that moment when we could start everything together....

As next we´re going to disassemble a few of the components to overwork a few details....we also want a few covers on the inside and get rid of the cable mess....so still a lot to do....

In the last days we spent the most of our time on the sim and it´s fine tuning. It was a lot of work to get started with all the different forces which can be used to control a sim....but i think now we´re on a good way.

Beside that we started with an optional output device :D

We spent the first thoughts on these option when we started the Sim Project, but first it seems too complicated, so we changed our plans and switched to a 3 Monitor or Beamer Output for our Sim.
But as the time goes by, we found another way to realise our first thoughts, so that we´re finally able to build a diy version of the Oculus Rift.

But as i mentioned above....it will only be an optional device, thats because the efforts to get everything working with each other is really high. Up to now we can use it with Videofiles and a few games and there is still some work to do with the fine tuning of all settings.

In the last month we already printed an Ironman Helmet (it´s a bit overscaled), first it was not intensed to be used on this project, but as we found a solution for the building process we couldn´t resist to use the Ironman Helmet for the Rift.....

We also prepared a few plexiglas pieces which will be used for the eyes....

And in the last weeks our display and lenses arrived and have been tested...

    Normal view....

    3D View...

We also prepared an old webcam to be used for motion tracking of inrared LED´s, therefore we had to remove the IR-Filter in Front of the Lens so that the cam is able to "see" infrared...

nope, atm it´s just the helmet....but maybe sometimes later we will add more parts to complete the suite (i would love to have one for my own :D)

@Raiden thanks a lot my friend!

And again it was a long time without any status updates....but that had several reasons...
after the last update we went to Friedrichshafen for the Maker World and the We-Mod-It Modidng Masters to exhibit the sim.
We thought it was a nice reason for a first public test before we will take it to the Gamescom and the DCMM in the next week. (like a stress test)
And it was really good that we have done that...public events always seems to attract failures and so we could see where we have to fix a problem or which parts have to been overworked.

Beside that we also made the 2nd Place in the Category for Scratch Builds (first place goes to our friend Ironknocker with his Benchair - congratulations again!)

One of the problems which occur at the MW was our GFX Card....it runs stable in 2d Mode (Windows Desktop etc) but as soon as it comes to 3d you could count the minutes until it gets to hot and causes bluescreens and reboots. After a quick examination we could only find out that the Fan Motor on the Card gets hot and that could maybe the explanation why the Card has temp issues....
At the MW we fixed this with an other GFX Card which was dedicated for another system, so it was only a solution for that weekend but better that than nothing...

Another problem was our Beamer....the Fair Hall was really brightly lit so that the picture wasn´t bright enough to play a game on it....for the moment we fixed it with a small pavillon which we bought at a local supply but for the future we had to find another solution...

Beside that we also find a small mechanical problem which we could fix after the MW by just replacing a few screws with bigger ones + locking nuts....

The next problem occurs a few weeks after the MW....our Racing Wheel is making us crazy....first one of the pedals won´t work (clutch...so not really a super big problem) but then a second error occured....and that second error is really fatal because it´s announcing that the electronics of the wheel won´t live for a long time....(Error 888)

So you see....a lot of stuff to do....a lot of that has already been solved....so here we go....

The first to problems could really easy been solved with a new GPU and a nice Display....
And with the help from Asus it wasn´t a problem anymore! So we want to use this moment to send a big thank you to them ! For their great support and help! You´re really awesome!

Beside that we already prepared a keyboard for the Sys ....

After the arrival of the GPU and Display we had to decide if we want a display holder which is mounted on the Sim or if we wanted a independent solution which will be placed in front of the sim....
After a short discussion we decided to build the first solution with the Display mounted on the Sim....so the first thing we had to build for that was a nice VESA Mount and an Arm which can hold everything up....

In the time between the new wheel and pedals arrived...

naturally we mounted everything right away so that we could test them and see if we get any new problems, because the new pedals are a bit bigger than the old ones...

After that tests we continued the work on the Arm for the Monitor mount....

i think as next were going to add a few more parts to the gaming sys (covers and a few other details are still missing...) so that it will be in best shape for the upcoming DCMM in the next week.....

hey very nice! i see a lot of good stuff there!!

hehehe that is a sentence i heard a lot in the last weeks (especialy during the gamescom/dcmm)

After my last update there was not much time left until we had to pack our car so that we could travel to the Gamescom and show of our Mods and Scratch builds :D during the German Casemodding Mastership (DCMM).

This year was a really tough year with a lot of good mods and scratch builds so the jury had to make an awesome job to find the 3 winners in each category. But finally the luck was on our side....and we made the 2nd Place with our Motion Sim Project.

here a few pics from our Sys @ the show....

and here is a link to our FB Page...i made an album with all the contestants from this years DCMM....

So what should i say now.....for the moment the project is finished!

But everybody who knows us will already know that we have a new special project in our pipeline...and it has a few similaritys to this one....so stay tuned for the next worklog....:thumb:
