    From ZDNet:

The MSBlast worm is forcing IT departments to work overtime, but the damage seems to be somewhat contained, at least in the working world.

An existing patch, heightened security awareness and the relatively slow pace of the worm are combining to blunt the overall impact of the worm's spread, according to sources. Some companies have been forced to apply patches in the past 24 hours or inconvenience employees by temporarily taking them off the network, but significant damage is so far light.

    Full report here

Anybody been hit? My place has suspended remote access to all laptop users until their machines have been patched - in fact I've got to go offline later today to take my work laptop upto the network gods to have it 'done'.

Our internet access has only just come back after we had to shut down all systems to apply patches. Main server had real problems booting back up so we've had a really fun afternoon.

As it turns out we had 1 infected PC here in Reading. Spookily I removed the Worm and patched it before any calls had been raised alerting us to the Worm ( thanks to the heads up I got here on the forums last night with threads appearing everywhere :thumb: ). No-one else here is infected as our firewall stopped it, the Agency we've merged with is heavily infected though. Joy...

I got hit at home, my parents got it on nearly every PC they own.

At work I got it on my o-scope, and I guess it was mediumly spread out.

But like it says above, it is more of an annoyance, easy to clean up.

I'm also Tech Support so I fixed it before it became a problem here. ;) Just a shame our sister Agency didn't bother updating their firewall. Still, I'm off in a sec cos I can do NOTHING.

[EDIT]I think I should point out I'm being eyed suspiciously as I sent an e-mail to my mate yesterday lunchtime with a link to the Register's article on MSBlast.exe saying "wow, this is spreading fast"... then I patched the only infected PC here before we got a call in about it and before most of IT Support had even heard of it... and today I'm wearing a T-shirt with "Hack the Corporate Reality" on it.... ho hum :D

    *grins at hex* good job
I work on a tech desk for a computer sales company and the sad fact is it will affect EVERY windowsXP pc we have ever sold where no-one has enabled the firewall/patched to the latest updates.. still keeps me in a job :D

I haven't been at work in 3 days cos I've been on a training course... haven't heard anything from work about this so far but both our offices have NAT firewalls so it wouldn't have gotten inside.

Guess I'm gonna be busy tomorrow patching the XP boxes anyway, I doubt anyone has the Automatic Updater turned on/automatically installing updates.

You said your fancy Tektronix windows O'scope got infected?
Just what I feared from all this PC/MS Windows based test equipment.:(
