    Hello,

Around 3 months ago i swopped my FX5800 Ultra for a FX5700 Ultra for some stuppid reason :wallbash: , but ever since the FX5700 ultra has been in my system I havent been able to run games i thought this was a graphics card issue at first until I tested it in a friends machine and it ran perfectly.

Ok so this brings me back to my machine I fitted the card again and the issue was on my machine so I started to look at other causes my next thought was my CPU - AMD Athlon XP 2100+, not 2 weeks ago a mate had this same issue the CPU was fine but couldnt run games did the same as mine is doing, he changed the CPU and the problem then went away, ok so i change my CPU which is in today AMD Athlon XP 1700+ clocked to 2400+ and it works great but you guessed it my problem has not gone away.

So what next? I start to target issues like Software, I have changed the drivers which didnt change a thing, then I flashed my BIO's and YES the problem has gone  and then I have bene playing games again, and notice in my settings it doesnt have fast writes enabled and AGP 8x is not enabled and the game was runnig in 4x mode, so i go back to the BIO's change it to x8 and NOOOO the problem has returned, so when i change my PC from 8x to 4x it works but 4x to 8x doesnt work PLEASE HELP!!

    Im out of idea's!

    System Spec Is As Follows:

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ Clocked to 2400+
    AOpen AK77 - 600 Max Motherboard
    768Mb Kingston Hyper X DDR333
    MSI GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2
76 GB Western Digital Raptor 10k

I'd look at that bord, it isn't a known performer...

When I worked at the shop, I requested extra pay for things like PCchips and ECS... and Aopen made that list.

But it ran at 8x on my FX5800 Ultra and why not the Fx5700 Ultra could it be different voltage?
