    From the Inq:

DESPITE FAILED PROMISES from MSI UK that it would return our calls last week, through various other sources we have established that MSI UK's warehouse in Hayes, Middlesex, was subject to a damaging robbery either late in the night on Tuesday 21st, or the early morning of Wednesday 22nd October.

One reliable source said, "someone cleared out half of their warehouse" and indicated "that a lot of stock was missing" which was "all fairly new stuff".p> Apparently the thieves seemed not to be opportunists and very much knew the value of what they were taking. Items that went missing are believed to have included quantities of DVD-ROM drives, some special MSI mainboard and AMD Athlon XP 3200+ CPU "bundles" and some of the latest Nvidia based GeForce FX graphics accelerators.

    Full story here

So, If you happen to be offered cheap MSI gear in the near future, it could be 'hot' - so unless your 100% sure it's legit, I'd leave well alone.

    On a side note....Anyone want a Barton?

    :)

surely they have a log of the serial numbers - they can tell if an item's hot or not.

    They probably have.

But you're not going to privy to that info to check whilst, for example, at a computer fair, or when a shifty looking bloke called Nicky comes up to you in the pub and tries to sell you a 'Barton' ;)

Man, that totally sucks. MSI make decent stuff, and now their sales might decline because most computer savvy people aren't gonna touch any stuff cause it might be hot.

(this is the guy who has an MSI mobo, CD-RW and DVD-Rom drive, uses MSI in all of his builds, and has never had a problem)
