    April Fool forum readers!

    Of course, we were rumbled early on, and no, this isn't our new reviews format. In fact as if by magic, we've added the accompanying text to the review.

    Good to see most of you have a sense of humour :D

    I'm German. We don't believe in the concept of humour, sorry.

    We vetoed the idea of streaming the Twitter feed to the Facebook page as an awful lot goes out on it (it streams our RSS feed and occasional updates from us too) so it'd basically just spam the hell out of Facebook.

    You should do away with content, benchmarks and scores. In fairness you could get it down to product name, photo followed by a smiley face by which we can gauge ur reaction

    :-( = 1 to 5
    :-/ = 6 to 8
    :) = 9 to 10
    (. )( .) = boobies

    You know, I was seriously stunned by the "value" field being so high. Couldn't understand why the card was getting a Recommended rating when it's Performance is a 6/10. So I did a bunch of Frames-per-second versus GBP as a cost-performance analysis to truly determine value, and indeed it's ratio generally beat out both the GTX 550 Ti and the GTX 560 Ti (just taking those two from the Conclusions paragraph). But I still have a problem with an 8/10 performance when it can't make a minimum of 30fps in most of the games and resolutions tested. And given that, despite the low cost, I don't see it as having a high value. There needs to be a minimum standard to which a card has to perform in order to make it worth purchasing, even if it only costs 20 Bob.

    On a similar note, I'd be interesting to see a cost/performance analysis on all those cards, to find out which ones really do have a high value.

    Meh, we all knew how the 6850 preformed up to this so no big loss.
    I was a bit short though.

    BTW it say on page 7 that the HD 5990 was unable.

    Okay, I've gone a little nuts ... just taking the Colin McRae Dirt 2 stats, and doing some searches on pricing for the cards on Scan (note that not all cards listed are available on Scan), I created a Cost vs. Performance chart for all the cards listed. This is the true measure of Value, AFAIC.

    Looks like that Cyclone is okay, but certainly not worth the 8/10 rating. I'd put it more at a 6. In fact, the stock 6850 has better "value". The GTS 450 beats them all, followed by the 550 Ti, and then the two 460 models.

    @jon

    But as Bit-tech themselves admit
    "... Dirt 2, a game in which we’ve found Nvidia cards hold a significant advantage..."

    which means finding that nVidia cards have a bang-per-buck advantage in that game comes as no surprise. Infact, that game naturally skews the results.

    +1 for effort though.

    @fingerbob

    Appreciated. :) It was a lot of effort (or more than just a little, anyway). I'd have run all the games if I'd had more time.
