ExtremeTech have a story on MSI replacing 'defective' 6800GTs. The fault seems to make the cards in question identify themselves as NV40s. So far, according to the article, only MSI Germany has come clean:

MSI Germany has acknowledged that a small number of graphics cards using the Nvidia 6800GT core were released, and the company has offered to replace them.

In a statement which has only appeared on the MSI Germany web site, the graphics board maker acknowedged that about 350 NX6800GT-TD256E cards had been released, which include an unknown glitch tied to the bridge chip. The glitch causes the chip to identify itself as an "NV40" component, an earlier chip released by Nvidia.

Customers can return the cards with an appropriate voucher from the dealer where the cards were purchased, and receive a full refund. The story first appeared on TechPowerUp, a hardware enthusiast website.

That's all ExtremeTech have, but here's a link to the original TPU article, and one to the MSI Germany page (German Only)
