This happened randomly this computer is an overclocked core i7 12 gb ram 500W PSU

Yesterday computer can't be turned on and it instantly turns off and tries again 4 seconds later or so.

I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps

    Ram is fine
    PSU is fine
    Graphics Card works
    All other hardware works

SO now I am down to CPU and Mother board which either way I dread as they aren't cheap, Removing the CPU changed nothing it still did the exact same thing and the only thing that made a change was detatching the JPWR2 power unit this allowed the computer to run but of course no video or anything else.

Is my CPU dead or is the motherboard toast in some way, hope somebody can help especially if it's good news.

Have you cleared the CMOS? My X58A was terrible for randomly doing this. For me it was just a case of fine tuning the voltages to get it sorted.

    Remove CMOS cell.

    Power on.

    Power off.

    Jumper on clr CMOS.

    Jumper off clr CMOS.

    Return CMOS cell.

    Power on.

This should rule out any bios based issue forcing board to boot from bios 2 (should it have one) and to then flash from bios 2 to bios 1.

Alright now Im no pro at this or anything so with the cmos I can clear cmos while running without the extra power cable connected because it will run fine without the J cable connected but of course its useless since no cpu or graphics power.

Just want to clarify Andrew Ive got a clear CMOS button on the buttom of this board, which cell would I be removing here. This is a picture of the board I have.

Im pretty sure I did it right with the button CLR CMOS held down and no change to it once I plugged the J power cable back in same power on off instantly. Any other ideas or maybe make sure I did it right
