Just disable the icons! Then all you'll see is loads of text.

Now you see why I dont like emoticons showing in the contacts list! The text shortcuts is good enough for me!

my name is just my first name, website and maybe a small line from a song.

No, the MsgPlus! installer contains a bundled installer for a spyware component, but that's all. It is 100% optional, and if you refuse to give your support that's the last you'll hear of it.

I use Messenger Plus! mainly for the renaming contact facility, otherwise I would truly go insane with trying to memorise everybody's email address so I can keep track of who they are. I've only ever changed my contact name once in the entire 2 years I've been using MSN, but only for a few hours, otherwise I'm always "quack".

have to say that since i got trillian, i dont seem to have that problem.

and as i am over 3 decades old, i dont tend to talk to prepubescent AOL chicks.

and oddly enuff, i have only 15 contacts between 3 services, and each one is someone i know on an actual first name basis. there's only one that i havent actually hung out with (in real life.) 4 are my fiancee (duplicate yahoo id's - and i only have msn cause that's all she could use from her last job) and 2 are her mom.

the only irc i use trillian for is #bit-tech. so it stays pretty simple. back in the day (read- 97,98) my icq list was getting horrendous.

Hopefully with the advent of MSN7, people will start using their names only, and then including all their rubbish in the Personal Message bit below their names. That way in conversations and when they log in, you can tell at a glance who they are, whilst they're still able to post such rubbish.

That's if anyone actually uses the Personal Message thing, or the Contact Card feature. :D

Only daily? ;) I have conversations with certain un-named administrators of this site purely through MSN name changes... I always try & keep "Hex" at the beginning though so people know who I am.

I hate people that do that kind of stuff, that's why I do have them in groups, so I have a main group, and no matter they change their nick, I know who they are.
I also use MSN plus, so I can see their real nick/name. ;)
