Im new to linux (Windows = crap). I know this topic has ben disscused before. Ive looked around and cant find much. All my mates use MSN so i need it to work with Linux. I know theres a version out there. Could any one point me in the direction of it please. Thanks
Ive found AMSN from Sourceforge.net. However i dont know how to install it. Does any one else have AMSN and know how to install it?
i try'd amsn too, but had no luck running it, insted i use the great gaim, the only thing it won't do is send and recieve files
Amsn. Unpack to somewhere and run it from the command line by cding to its dir and executing it by ./amsn You cannot (at least I haven't found a way) run it by clicking an icon in X. Oh and once your terminal window is running amsn do not close that else msn will die without even warning you. Dolbz. P.S. Wish must be installed. Check with "whereis wish" but RH8.0 has it installed by default
I found a way in KDE. I created a new shortcut on my KDE-bar, set the location and told it to run in a terminal. It's probably possible to use a similar method in gnome etc.
I guess I just wasnt concentrating last time I tried. It works now thanks Also you do not need the terminal option checked. Mine just runs the AMSN window straight off now.
If you install aMSN using an rpm rather than unpacking the .tar it will put an icon in your KDE (or whatever) menu. Also, if running from a terminal window, if you type ./amsn & you can continue to use that terminal window when aMSN is running. Oh, btw. If you do use the .tar distribution, you can also use the makefile (I think that's the one) file to create a shortcut icon from, ie, your desktop, or task bar.
