Hi. I've been waiting a lil while to give you this project! It's going to be LIVE through the next few hours so keep looking as I'll constantly be adding piccys!
I've been on ebay over the past month picking up some great stuff of my mountain bike. Why buy totally new when you can generally get great stuff on fleebay for next to nothing!?!

In, this project I will be pimping mt GT Ruckus (my new frame) and making it that lil bit more unique from most bikes I hope. I dunno maybe it'll not be that different, but it i'll not be like what most people go for! Anyway here's a few poor quality pics to get the jiuces flowing!

This project should be finished within 4 hours MAX. Should be long enough for everything to go wrong!lol
    PS
    Here's the spec.

GROUPSET: shimano xtr, (mostly replaced due to wear) to FSA cranks and other bit.
WHEELS: Pace carbon front hub 32 spoke, planet x 36 spoke rear, laced with dt swiss db spokes laced to mavic D521 rims, shod with Michelin wild gripper tyres
    STEM: Syncros 20th anniversary stem
    HANDLE BARS:profile carbon wrapped bars
BRAKES: Avid 2.0 (that was a guess)
    H-SET: Cane Creek

    TRANSFERS ADDED

I think I made the right choice getting rid of the ruckus transfer. It didn't do the paint job justice. Grey is my fav colour, so IMO the white decals give is a nice contrast and help the bike stand out a lil bit better!

NEXT: Adding wheels and single speed to cassette

Hi, well the Ruckus is really a jump/ dual slalom frame. But I bought it so I could do eveverything I enjoy on it i.e XC, trials jumps slalom and just having fun. The wheels I'm taking off where really for DH, but i've replaced those with the crossmax for looks, better braking (they're ceramic) and the fact that they are VERY strong. I have been wanting to try out single speed mtbing for a while now as I ride fixed wheel on the track and on my winter bike & then there's the simple fact that single speed is interesting and simple!

    thanks for the q

ah right, i guess the ruckus frame has changed a bit since i used to ride.

you say you've changed to mavic crossmax partly for better braking...i guess by that you mean you are switching to disc brakes too, god forbid running V-brakes on crossmax rims right?! just want to clarify because i have seen someone do that before and it resulted in alot of pain...!!!

single speed makes for a very light bike and gets you fitter. Disadvantage is that you will be cursing it on tricky rocky assents and long climbs. No bottle holder?

Adding singles speed, new wheels & tyres!

Hi, and on to the next stage: Adding singles speed, new wheels & tyres!

I'm happy with the progress. The bike is so much lighter. As asked before about the single speed, it is perfectly acceptable to add single speed to a xc frame. There's loads out the if you look, even online! It's jus different really and mechanicaly less maintanence is needed and there si less to go wrong!

    Now on with the pic's!

I'm happy with the progress so far. Sorry, but the pic's arent great. I haven't even go proper tubes for te tyres yet!

Really happy with the crossmax wheels! Snapped them up on ebay for 130 pounds. The michelin tyres were only 26 pounds for the pair! Anyone knowing a bit about mtbing will know this is 500 quids worth of gear! happy days!

Crossmax disc with v-brakes!? That guy must have been insane & what a waste of a beautiful wheelset!
You can actually buy v-brake crossmax wheels with ceramic coating for improved braking, they'r great! Only thing is I wonder how long the ceramic coating well last. I've heard it can wear out in a year. The rim isn't anywhere near as thick as the rims on my time trialt bike! (spinergys)

    Trusty old Marzocchi's :thumb:

Head angle looks really tight though, unless it's the pic.

My allrounder, goes up and down hills and doesn't break :) (sorry for the spammage)

. Thanks, they are still great and super light! Head angle: You had me worried there! Thankfully it is the pic. The forks work well on this bike. I stole them off my old Zaskar pro. Remmber those days when it had the Easton tubing? Best frame I ever had. Even beat people on raod bikes on it during a club road race! SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO STIFF!

Next come the brakes. Watch this space!

    Haha, sounds satisfying :p

Don't think I've got any more pics, might have some of my old build though.

I was going to build something similar to what you are but I can't afford to run another bike at the moment (and I've been a bit lazy when it comes to riding).

    MUGURA BRAKE FITMENT & pic's

Well thats the job done for now. Still need to buy tubes and brake pads designed for ceramic rims.
Brakes arent properly fitted. I need to find the instruction manuals. I'm really happy with the steel brake hoses and I'm glad they came fitted! So there you go, flee bay has decent stoff if you're not getting the latest gear. Though I think v-brakes must still have a following if mavic are still making v-brake rims!

So there it is, thats it for tongiht. Better pic's promised for the weekend. I want to ride it then. Not too far mind. I've got a sort of hernia thing, am 14 stone and have a bad knee, bad back, and dysfunctional abdomen, displaced pelvis and hip problems. Now theres a project! And it is cos I've been working on my body since te summer to get it fixed next year. I used to be a decent cyclist and Irish champion, now I'm addicted to food andthe internet. Not a bad trade is it!?:D

    Cheers!lol
Well it was all done second hand, except for the tyres and DMR singlespeed conversion kit. All in all I spent 250 quid. I would have upgraded to disc only the kit would have been REALLY poor in comparison to what I got & then I would have had to buy forks!

Totaly right. I hope the novelty of getting fitter doesn't wear off, or the bike will be on ebay. The great thing about riding single speed on hills during the winter is that during the next season you have power that you wouldnt beleive! As a single speeder convert I should logically own a camel-back. Yes I suppose I should get a bottle holder on there quick.
Blast I wish I could ride it in anger!:wallbash::miffed:
