well in that case i hope it does. that thing is sweet. depending on how much money i have this summer i might do this to my current bike if i buy a full-suspension. i've always wanted a single-speed. and where did you find hydraulic rim brakes? i haven't seen any of those in years!
They're made by Magura which is a German company, easily available in Europe and still used on Trials bikes
Thanks mate. Really can't wait to get trying the bike out! As fibre+ said, you can stil get them, for about £130 new on ebay, although if you look second hand you'll get a good pair that were only used a few times like I did, barely used and with braided steel brake hoses for a total of £50! Can't beat that!
Must just be the time of year, ive just build a new one too, mine is as follows: 06 GT Zarkar Pro frame, Rock Shox Reba Team, Hope Mono Mini Discs, Mavic 717 rims handbuild onto Hope Pro II hubs Shimano XTR Front/Rear Mechs, XTR Shifters, XT Cassette, KMC 9.95 Chain, FSA Afterburner Chainset, Shimano SPD's FSA 280 Seatpost, XC115 Stem and Carbon Pro Team handlebars, Did about 30 mile on it today and its stiff as hell, just thinking I might need to change the ratio on the cassette. Now this is built im going to finish off my STP, Giant STP Zero frame, Rock Shox Argile (cant remember the number 318 possibly) NC17 bar and Stem, Hope Mono M4's Single speed kit, Wheels borrowed from a friend till march when the Da Bomb Da Rims are back in stock. I'll try get some pictures tomorrow at work.
Thanks! Yea, it was crossmax, nothing considering they're v brake I think they're the nicest v-brake rims on the market at the moment IMO, unless you're talking about carbon goodness!
Well thats the way a Zaskar should be built. The forks, bars and xtr stuff you can see that was on the ruckus, was from my 1998 Zaskar pro. I sold on ebay recently. Sort of wish I hadn't but there you go. It was the best bike I ever owned, and I think with the Easton tubing, stiffer than the Ruckus. Would love to see some piccy's! Whats it like single speeding?
As a fellow Mountain Biker hater, I'm going to exploit you all with the following: £1600 of beautiful kids bike. All for me! /evil laughter. I don't really hate mtb.
Dunno mate, ive not rode the bike yet!! Just taken some pics and i'm goin to my bro's tonight so i'll try get them up.
nah only use camel backs for racing.. no matter what the latest advert claims they make your back sweaty and having a large mass that high up dosen't do anything for your ballance. Also the water gets warm and they get all full of nasty bugs... eurgh.
I've got a 1.5 litre camelback it's not that heavy but it does make my back sweaty. Fill it with the largest blocks of ice you can and it'll stay cold for a few hours.
Pretty much, alot of the structure is made of titanium like the axles, crank spindles, etc... Also has alot of titanium bolts, even though they are sprayed black. It'll withstand almost any abuse you give it, and probably weighs less than all of those mountain bikes, and before you go saying 'well they're twice the size!', 80% of the components are steel, the mb's are made from alloy. But hey, I'm used to people not understanding how it cost that much, nothing new.
That bike must handle like a dream! What kind of steel is it. You can get 16lbs racing bikes made from steel now. The frame wall thickness is like papaer though. I'd hope your bmx could take a few knocks. I'd love a titanium bmx. If GT would make one that may be the best thing since, um sliced bread?!
I think it's japanese sanko tubing. The wall thickness is thin in most places, but offset and thicker in places like the headtube, and the gusseting around the seat and cranks. The bikes weighs 22 pounds exactly, measured with a hanging scale. Frame weighs 4.56lbs, one of the lightest steel frames out. Why would it be brilliant if GT made one? In the BMX world GT is an awful make. Eastern make alot of titanium parts, including Ti frames and Ti forks that are designed for skateparks, street etc, not race use only.
My mate rides BMX in Movment and his bike's worth a lot more than that IIRC. He's an idiot though - had so much plastic surgery after smashing his face up over and over again riding that he can barely breathe through his nose. AH
A few peices of eye candy for you! Well, thats the bike done. Just need to finish by removing the surplus chainrings! The bike is great to ride, very responsive and nippy because of how light the wheels are all in all this project has turned out better than I thought!
Thanks! Grey and black are both my fav colours. I just didn't realise they go together that well! I will use clipless when I'm fit a again and can enjoy club mtb races. Getting my body back into condition again is not a project I'm looking foward to that much! For now the flat pedals will let me ride down to the park nice and casual like.
