ive seen those pieces of plexi lit with leds from the side. ive looked a little bit (hehe used the search function) but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. from what ive seen it looks like the design you want lit up has to be frosted into the plexi? if thats right my idea wont exactly work for what i want, but i would like to do a design with different colored plexi panels? not sure how to explain this but i would like one clear layer for the window, with a second layer of pieces of plexi cut out and lit with seperate colors. if i can figure out a way to host some pics ill try to explain better, hopefully this makes sense.

I get what you're tlaking about; why don't you just make the window, then attach the L.E.D's to the top of the larger layer of plexi (the one that's clear) shining on the detailed parts?

    btw, image hosting here :)

Are you wanting to light up different parts of the design with different colors? If so, check out what Lokie does with windows over at the Pimprig forums. Just take a look through that thread. I think he also may have a guide over there on how to do the sandblasting.

If that is not what you are talking about doing...ignore the above. :p

    And regardless....welcome to the forums.

Japala...you've got so much great stuff on your site! Whenever someone asks how to do something, I'm just gonna start telling 'em to look over there first. Even if I don't know if you've got it. Cause you probably do. :D

It would probably need to be "marked" in some way, like sand blasting (Lokie's method) or etching (like Japala's). What happens is the part that is etched catches the light and creates a glowing effect. The same sort of effect can be seen on the edges of a piece of plexi that is side lit by LEDs.

this probably wont be what im looking for for a window...perhaps ill try this out when i fabricate a new frontpanel:dremel: the design im planning on doing is a sacred heart (heart with flames for those unfamiliar) if this is frosted it will take up more area of the window then i would like. :geek: thats why i was so concerned about wether or not the design would have to be frosted. anyone have any idea to make this totally clear?
