Overclocking multiplier help

    ive recently got a p867 pro running with a 2500k,but when i attempt any overclock from stock to anything up to 4.8 its fine for a couple of minutes then pc slows to a crawl then cpuz says core at 800 and a x8 multiplier any ideas

    Sounds like its maybe throttling down, speedstep would only take it down to 1.6Ghz (x16).

    What happens if you only do a 100Mhz overclock?

    i tried adjusting cpu max and min in power settings on windows 7 and that seemed to of solved it
