Original story Given the source, I can't shake the feeling that this is really just FUD aimed at encouraging catholics to have more children, regardless of their ability to pay for them.
What struck me as being weird from the article I read on it, was that they were comparing Muslims with Catholics, whereas I would have thought that a more balanced comparison would be Christians with Muslims (religion comparison) or say Catholics with Shias (Denomination / Sect comparison). As such, the report seems pretty meaningless.
If the Vatican is that worried, perhaps they should use some of their wealth to pay parents to have more children. /sarcasm off And as TheCherub says, it's really not a proper comparison.
Wasn't there something about this in one of those vids about 9/11 that were up here last week? Co-incidence? I THINK NOT!!!
WTF! i thought there were more Muslims than Catholics 2 years ago. but there are more Christians than Muslims???
Yeah, there's loads of Christians.. I once sat through a sermon where the guy preaching cited Christianity being the most popular religion as a reason to believe in Christ etc.
Stereotype alert! There is actually no mention in the Koran that apostates are not allowed to leave the religion or should be persecuted/punished. The only mention on the matter (used by fundamentalist clerics to justify such action) is: "And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein." --Koran, 002:217 Same old, same old. Leave our one, true faith and burn in hell for all eternity. I recall Christianity says the same. In any case, why don't you ask some ex-Amish or ex-Mormons how easy it was for them to leave their faith: As always: the practice is not necessarily how it is preached.
