yeah but not that many and i read the thread and not really the same as this one as it mainly going on about the hero and how to unlock it and load 2.1 on etc

managed to get a few app ideas from it though so not a complete waste.

Shazam is a good app I use alot.

I also like Google Goggles. It doesn't work 100% of the time but it's good to have a bit of fun with.

The best way to find good apps is to just go into the marketplace and select Top Free or Top Paid Apps.

i know but i trust peoples opinion on here a lot more.

the comments on the market are from every tom dick and harry who generally knows nothing so getting a techies perspective even 1 is worth 1 million of "OMFG amazing BUY IT" and "doesnt work after i turn my phone off !!"

Right then... all of these are on my Sony Ericsson X10

BatteryTime - by far the best battery monitor
DoubleTwist - a decent media player
Gearoid Lite - the free Game Gear emulator, not perfect and some games look aweful but is good fun nontheless
Google Sky map - good for astronomy lovers
    gStrings - guitar tuner
NeoReader - great barcode reader - also good for Android market tags (there's also Google's own Barcode reader that does the job)
    Quickpedia - for Wikipedia
Shazam - perfect for finding new music (but only 5 tags per month if installed after Jul 15th)
TheWeather - great homescreen weather widget
Twidroyd - my favoured Twitter app
UK TV Droid - TV guide, 3 days
Throttlecopter - an annoyingly addictive game
Speedtest - for testing 3g speeds
ScummVM - great for those old LucasArts games
Replica Island - possibly the best game on Android
Dolphin Browser - far better than the standard browser, complete with gesture support
Skyfire browser - not as good as Dolphin, but it can render flash video
3G Watchdog - tells you how you've used your 3G data.
BBC News - far better way to skim the BBC news website
Guardian Anywhere - same as BBC News, but for the Guardian website. Also downloads articles to the phone for faster reading.
Engadget - for reading Engadget articles.

That should get you going... and all are free.

I've installed plenty more and do like Spotify but at £10 pcm it's a little on the expensive side for my liking without some permanent downloads.
