As usual in summer (at least in italy) lots of dogs (that during the year were our best friends) are abandoned along streets and highways and in most cases die of starvation or got run over by cars or end their lifes in a kennel.
This situation got worse in the last years when some genius vet had the idea to cut their vocal chords to keep them silent.
This summer however there is a new.

Some time ago dogs ID tattoos became mandatory and laws against these kind of behaviours turned from civil only to penal (which means prison).
In reply, many people thought to mutilate dogs to take away tatoos. In this way they can not be traced by law and can fully enjoy their holidays.

I wish these crappy *******s to rot in hell , god damn them
    :grr:

I don't particularily like dogs; not because they're nasty in aany way, but because of the smell they leave in someone's house. You cna instantly tell if someone has a dog, simply by walking in their house.

This said, i don't like the idea of someone mutilating defenseless animals simply because they don't want them any more and want to avoid prosecution. Don't they have a place to take an unwanted dog in Italy (the equivalent of the RSPCA in Britain) ?

Yes, i guess, but they just want to avoid problems at all.

that's just plain nasty if they can't be bothered to get rid of the decently. If they won't do that, then they don't deserve to keep an animal in the first place.

Actually, that comes down to the owner. As long as the dog (or cat) is kept clean and the owner cleans the house, you would never know. I have a cat and a dog and you would never know that there are animals in my house if you came over - many people have told me that.

surely its easier to shoot strays than cut their vocal chords out?

i hate dogs, but even i dont like the idea of mutilating them. Dont quite understand what's happening. are people getting these dogs, and then ditching them when the next summer shows up? seems a bloody waste of money to me. if you're gonna get a pet, keep it until it either dies of natural causes, or has to be put down for some reason.

Fair point; but most people don't keep their dog's mind-bogglingly clean so very often wherever they live smells of "dog" :)

Dogs are like baby grandchildren/distant relations babies imo - you can play with them; when they get all ****ted up; you can give them back :D

It's actually not as difficult as people think to keep them clean. My dog gets a "normal" bath once a week (I do it in the back yard or in the tub if it's winter) and take him to the groomers once a month. Other than that, Just vacuum the floor and spray Fabreese every other day. It only take 30 mins a day to keep the house from smelling.

if ur not gonna look after a dog then don't get one, people have to b sick to harm an animal just cause they don't want it.

yes they are a problem if u go on holiday but there are places designed to look after animals when u go on holiday or just ask a neigbhour . :duh:
