At that distance the large pixels of the TV can't be very comfortable to look at. I know for a fact using my laptop on my DLP TV for watching movies, just sitting there on the ground setting up the external monitor kills my eyes and is impossible to read, and thats a DLP too. LCD and plasma TVs would be horrendous to look at I bet.
Bam Bam Boom! DUDE. I don't know what to say. That one EEE is moded to the maximam. You filled it with all the goods! lol DAm man you are the pro well done. I'm interested in that lock system it rocks also the GPS. Every thing is great
@ozstrike - It's a 7" touch panel LCD that I have wired up to my Pico-ITX @mattthegamer463 - I expected the same thing, but to be honest it's not bad at all. here is a close up pic of image quality. @ComputerKing - Thanks again sir. I got the lock system is from eBay for about $5, but you can get them from Brando. The GPS is also from eBay it's called a Route66 Bluetooth GPS, once I took it apart I realized the Route66 is just a rebranded Holux GPSlim 240 - so-called smallest hand held GPS in the world.
wow thats amazing man, i want a laptop now just so i could mod it BTW you gotta sik settup, but what do u use your Pico Comp for?
@_-..zKiLLA..-_ - Thanks man, get yourself an eeePC900 you wont regret it. The pico lives here, and it'll be used as a music jukebox running Windows Home Server + it'll allow me to read write files remotely for my work.
You are a genious! I wish i had such amazing eletronics skills. I have read this thread from start to finish, and i am sad it ended now. I am very eager to see some more updates! Cheers dude! Keep us amazed! 5 stars coming from here!
Thanks for the kind words. As for updates, there will be no more. You can find considerably more info and discussion at my thread over at the eeeuser forums. This project is stamped "complete" in my book. It's still up and running, I use it nearly every day. I have however moved on to mod about 1/2 a dozen other eeePCs for friends and clients. I have one of them logged here on bit-tech, link.
AWESOME, as you mentioned before you have an amazing selection of mods there, the only thing i could think of that's missing would be a fingerprint scanner (for encrypting your files) though its not really needed that much i suppose. Best EEE iv ever seen, im sure you will get some mass internet coverage from this all around the world (i assume its already begun by now) Congrats Col
I love the desk setup mostly hehe, but love the lil laptop also, I couldnt even think to try and do something like that lol.
@bigc90210 - Thanks a lot mate. The project got quite a lot of views when I first threw it out on the web, the eeeUser thread alone got a something like 300,000 views. Thanks again. @DESTroyed22 - Thanks man, you'd be amazed what you can learn with a bit of patience, a multimeter, and a lot of googling.
Consider yourself to be responsible for the sale of yet another eeePC - this time, to me It should make a nice change from my usual power hungry ways... I'll be paying close attention to your project and the eeUser forum in the near future... Good work, MGT
probably someone already answered this but would these mods work on any of the eee pc? because i think there are several different models out there of them. nice mods btw, i seriously want a mobile laptop like this than using my old Toshiba satellite notebook.
Wow You are my hero. That is what they should sell eeePC's like, or at least have it as an option for another couple hundred bucks.
I have a 901 with Atom and I too have been waiting for some guidance. I've made a hardcase for it but haven't opened the eeePC yet. With 3 USB ports, I still haven't figured out what I need to add inside. A web cam? Not at my age. GPS? Where do I ever go to need that? Bluetooth? I have that on my smart phones for ear pieces. Langer started with the earliest piece that had very little and just blew everyone away with these mods (maybe could have used a couple colors of wire? Looks like the inside of a Cray supercomputer - all one color). As an EE he gets props from me for what was done. John
Thanks for the kind words folks. And welcome to Bit-Tech HunterDoom & TrowthePlow @jhanlon303 - I actually have a bunch of colours of the wrapping wire, but I decided on consistency... a decision that came back to bite me in the ass more than once while wiring this baby up. Having completed mods on a bunch of these units, and one 900 series I'd say that the process if very similar. The only difference is the locations of the +5v, and GND leads. You'll need to use the trusty old multimeter to find a point that can provide you with +5v; finding a GND point should be pretty easy. If you guys are at all interested in your own mods feel free to drop me a PM - I'll help out as best I can.
someone may have already said this but my friend said that maybe the reason why the first 32 GB HD died was due to the heat of the hardware that was added. since it has added parts to it, there will be more heat build up in the case so the heat may have caused the death of the HD.
The thread rises from the deep yet again. I'm not sure how it died, but my temps were never that bad - the system doesn't run very hot. The worst device for heat is the GPS mounted under the palm rest. Whatever it was, I'm over it by now, and the corsair replacement is still kicking.
where do you find those laptop wifi antennas at? or for that matter where do you get all of the laptop parts
let eBay be your guide. That's where just about everything came from. Goodluck mate, and welcome to the forums.
