dissagreed. 3dmark is a great way to compare you system before you overclock or change some part of it to after you do so. it also works great for comparing one video card to another of the SAME video card. for instance if you have 2 people with 7800gt's and one has an athlon 64 3800+ and the other has a 4000+ and the one with the 3800+ is gettin a score of 16000 and the one with the 4000+ is only getting 14500. then its a pretty good way of showing something is wrong with the 2nd system. while both systems may play doom3 at some bonkers frame rate. also its a great way to compare systems with your friends just for the fun of it, like a game. not to mention the overclocking testing i mentioned. you can loop 3dmark to test stability when you dont have time to play games for hours and hours. and it will show improvement on perf based on your overclock since nothing else in your system will have changed. 3dmark is not a good thing to use to help you decide what video card to buy nor is it a good thng to use to compare a geforceFX to a radeon x800 or other gpu's that are greatly different from one another (sticking to the same model is best)

I totally agree. It would be one score if you could translate the score to current game framerates, but that's almost impossible.

That said, I hit like 22k in 03.

But simply put, that CPU IS slowing you down. P4 = bad for gaming, >1GHz under their current max speed = bad for gaming, (bad for gaming)^2 = do the math. Having said that, it's not worth upgrading it, imo, unless you were planning to make the move to PCIE at the same time.

i was thinking of getting a 64-bit because as u say p4 is slower for games so time to get a new CPU :D :D

Maybe you'll find that it's because your running a AGP version and most of the scores posted or that you find around are with the PCI-E version...

    Just a guess :p
