I was walking round my local town a few days ago and a sign caught my eye: "120mins on High Power Sun-Bed, £5"(about $7.50) and i was struck with an interesting idea.

Well needless to say i was down there the next day with a backpack containg:
    • 2 Large plastic containers (with water tight lids)
    • Transparency Film (with some circuit PCB designs on them, 2 of each, back to back to make the designs less transparent)
    • A bottle of 'Developer Fluid' (Maplin/Rapid Electronics, fairly cheap)
    • A bottle of 'Etchant' (Feric Chloride Solution, also fairly cheap)
    • A couple of packs of photo-sensitive boards (Large)

I walked throught the door and got a few funny looks, it was as if they had never seen a pasty white geek ask for an 120min session on a high power sunbed before! I paid my cash and they shut me in a little room with plenty of floor space and the biggest PCB UV box i had seen!

I put the transparencies under the photo sensitive board and onto the sun bed for a min or so (powerful UV lamps in those things), slapped the board in the developer for a min in a plastic container whilst i set up another board on the sunbed. After the devloper had worked its magic i threw the board into the other plasic container, which i had sat on the sunbed to heat, and left it there. After a while I had well over 30 large boards done and decided to call it a day.

I still had time to tan some PCB designs on to my chest for a laugh and soak up the deadly rays before I put the lid on the etchant container and took it home to soak untill done.

The things I do for my rig!
