why not insulate the tubes and you water tank and crank it down to 5C or 2C just add more antifreeze to the water and you should be cood to go. I dont really see the point of keeping the water at 20C, when you could go lower with that set up.

    Except of course condensation..........

The set up is really nice looking, I assume that is stays out side then? what compressor and gas charge did you use? and what pump is that?

    Yip it stays outside
    Compressor Tecumseh 1/3hp 12cc
    Evap: Coaxal HX 8' long
    Controller: Ranco O16
Condensor: From old Ice machine, big though with custom shroud
    Fans: 2 Papst typ9956
    Gas: R22
    Captube: 5 feet 5 inches 0.031

It is a 1/3hp compressor with an 8' coaxial (tube in tube) heat exchanger for the water.
The res is a 10l insulated drinks container. The chiller, intake and exhaust fans on the box and pump are all started with a swiftech relay kit (the 2nd rev one with 50amp inrush) with my pc. I drilled 3 x 22mm holes through my study wall and put 3 15mm copper tubes through, 2 for water one for 240v and the 12v feed for the relay.

The relay and junction box is in the double socket in the box outside.

The pump is an iwaki wmd30rz (30' head - pressure pump) no introduction needed :)

It is an all year project and will keep same temp regardless of time of year - it will just need to work harder in summer. With regards to how it compares to normal water... it holds steady temps - cpu chipset mosfets and gpu all at about 30. It is outside so my study is quiet and cool. Don't know what else you would like me to compare?

It is capable of holding 400 watts (resistor load so more in real world) at very low temps maybe sub zero, but i set at +20c so i do not have to insualte and it isn't on all the time.

    System consists of
    dfi sli-dr
    opty 170 @ 2.9ghz
    2ghz mushkin redline @ 275 3-3-2-8
    x1900 (if it get's repaired)

    apogee - ek nf4 rev 1.1 - mips mosfet cooler - ek x1900 block

    cost
    res £26
    pump £60 (2nd hand but new - $250 new)
chiller ? (not willing to disclose price - if you want one speak to johann)
    relay £20
    quick release coulings £20
    blocks etc. £200 ish
    garden box £30
    new jeans for wife £200

no m8 - nor the 90 degree barbs on the mosfet cooler... haven't measured flow but the flow into the res was like a tap..

the pump is a beast though.

that is seriously cool (no pun-intended), very tidy looking as well. i've always thought about having a setup like this for when my computers at home and then having a portable external radiator, res and pump unit (ala koolance Exos 2) if i wan to take my comp anywhere.

    Nice work!

cheers guys.. it's been a bit of a long one,. couple of months in the planning with a few hiccups but it's all good now. Study is earily quite and nice and cool, used to be like a sweat box with my previous water cooled system.
Will be much neater internally when i get my x1900 back :) (if it works :dremel: )

2x120mm fans at full pelt and a compressor... difficult to quantify a db rating tbh. Let's just say I wouldn't want to be in the same room but i am very sensitive to any noise.
tis why i wanted it outside.
    say 45db????

so kinda like a fridge freezer running full whack with a desktop fan on as well, thats not to bad tbh....now i'm stuck between getting one and using it to cool my servers or have a reasonably powerful one like yours built and use it to cool my main rig....i bet it'd be having fun try to keep the water cool in the current weather

speak with johann m8 - but i bet he could build you one to cope with the thermal output of all your stuff. Just tell him what you have and he will do the rest...

one big water loop to cool main rig and servers......

You should get some of those ultra high loud fans. Since it is outside. They run like 190 vfm a piece iono the noise.

you mean the delta fans, true they do flow silly amounts of air and are very loud but whats the point if those papst ones are doing the job your not going to gain much more performance by seriously cooling the condenser, as long as it doesn't get too hot (i don't know what temps are safe).

i do need to do something as it was so hot today that the compressor wouldnt start unless i opened the box.. maybe another fan in and out for the box and a big vent..

dont get me wrong it runs like a dream.. just my box needs sorting.

good news persivore has fixed my borked x1900 so should have that plumbed in by the weekend!! top guy.
