I'm working on a custom etch...i took a few pics of the stencil before i space the letters out and masked the rest off and everything. I was gonna do it one of these 2 ways, but im going with the first one. wish me luck!
Which brings up a question....i was looking at some spray-on glass etch just the other day. The label warned about using it on plastic--didn't say why. Does it melt it all the way through?
looks good though... nice and clean, just rip out the window and flip it over, the locking strip will be a bitch, but you did it once already, and if the stuff don't come off you'll have to take it out anyway
well, a few problems with it. the letters arent spaced evenly...its upside down...but i took the glass out already and I'm in the process of scraping the crap back off with my nail. thats the only way i can get it off without scratching the plexi. then, im going to do it over again. only this time, im not gonna put it lower to the bottom of the glass, so then the red will be behind it more. well, it's gonna take a while to take this off, and this time im not gonna spray as much on.
If i ever put a window in my case, my plan is to do a reverse etch of the AMD logo...all the glass would be frosted except the arrow logo thing
Thanks for that link, Kna. The plan is to frost the window just around the edges; about 1 to 2 inches--make it look "icey", with a deep blue or icey blue lighting inside. Was considering masking it off and just sand it, but the glass etching sounds a bit easier. Hey, Mayze...look on the bright side....if it doesn't work, at least you have an entry for the Disaster mods forum.....yikes!
Problem fixed. i got some laquer thinner...thats what the can said to use to take the crap off. then i just masked it and cut the letters out through the stencil...word of advice, don't use a plastic stencil, if it gets under the stencil it will make it look like its glowing sorta, and makes it look very unclean. anyways...here's a few pics, not the best job...there's many flaws, but not really noticeable from farther away. The only way you can see them is if you're up really close.
