Just occurred to me that through the years of being a member I've never thought to mention my car despite it being pretty geeky.

Alfa Romeo 147 which is having a Fiat coupe 20v turbo conversion.
310bhp but will have nitrous so nearer to 350bhp when its finished.

    Engine -
    [IMG]

    Port and polished head
Inlet manifold port and polished - polished externally to mirror finish
    Polished Water Rail
    Polished Exhaust Manifold
    Stage 2 gt28rs Turbo - 360 bearings + 60 trim wheel
    Gizzmo MS-IBC Boost Controller
HKS dump valve with hard pipe
Canopenr - Canbus Decoder (more on that later!)
    13 Row Mocal Oil Cooler
    Front Mounted Intercooler
    Samco Silicone Pipes
    Powder Coated Rocker Cover
    Powder Coated Battery Tray
    Powder Coated Fuel Rail
    Braided Fuel Hoses
Full Vibra Technics Engine Mount Kit.

Engine management will be Vipec V8 feeding back to the CanopenR unit. The CANopenR is a realtime programmable CANBUS capture/send/interception device. This device assists in the reverse engineering and programming of computer/controller networks now found in cars 2000 and onwards. Essentially this feeds all the variables from the ECU and passes through to the dashboard via CAN - this means the car knows no different and all the stock clocks work as expected.

    Interior -
The car has had some internal changes - not many to keep it subtle.
    Leather seats with red stitching.
Eventually the dashboard will be stitched as well.
Door cards have been swapped for GTA door cards.
Centre Console has been hydrodipped in brushed Aluminium effect.
All cream coloured plastic vinyl dyed black (except A pillars for the moment - custom tweeter location)
    Brushed aluminium richbrook gear knob
Black leather with red stitch handbrake and gear gator.
Custom made 7" lilliput Touchscreen housing made.

    This later changed to -

    Brakes and Wheels -

A set of very grotty Team Dynamics 17" Lightweight Wheels

Refurbed in the standard Alfa Romeo Silver :thumb:

    Brakes -
    [IMG]

    GTA uprights
    Goodridge Brake Pipes
    GTA Trackrod Ends
    EBC 330mm Discs
    EBC Sports Formula Pads

    Refurbished Calipers - Fully rebuilt

The car was always going to be geared towards car audio but focusing on quality and clarity.
I decided early on that a car computer could be a good way to go!
With the exterior of the car looking pretty low profile i didn't want to bring attention to the stereo side of the car. The speakers will be in factory locations (except tweeters)
The amps will be in the boot and will not be visible whilst boot is shut.

I also decided fairly early on that Genesis Amplifiers were amazing so decided to use these as a design throughout.

H/U - Custom Car Computer - Nano ITX N700, M2ATX (custom flash), 7" HDMI Touchscreen
Amps - Genesis Quad Mono (special edition) & 2x Genesis Mini Blocks.
Cooling - Watercooled amplifiers & Aquaero XT Pro controller.
    Processor - Audison Bit One.
Comps - Morel Elate 6 2 Way - Fully Active.
    Sub - Morel Ultimo 12".
Power - Custom made distribution block & Phoenix Gold DD10.

    Computer specs -

Via Nano ITX N700 running a 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor
    2GB DDR2 Memory
    64GB Half Size SSD Drive
M2ATX Power Supply running a custom firmware - less delay on shutting down and valet function.
Windows 7 albeit been on a diet.
    Housed inside Genesis ST100 Casing

ABout 300 quid in the end. Guy called Jason makes them in Australia. I've then had a project box made up with front and back panels engraved :)

Its still got an awful long way to go.. but thought i'd show the masses!!

    :D

    Gotta love an engine swap.

Having just gone through the woes of supercharging I feel your pain.... but 500rwhp makes everything better again!.... when it works! :D

    Congrats!

I hope you know what you're doing, the 20VT forums I've been in all seem to agree that the 20VT is...difficult to tune >300hp, the lower end bearings and such wouldn't be up to it.
That said it's a lovely smooth engine.

Are those the brake calipers from a Coupe Fiat 20VT as well?

Do you have any experience with the EBC disks and pads?

I had the original Brembo ones and they were great.
Then I had Lucas disks with Lucas pads and they were dangerously horrible.
Then I had the brembo limited edition disks (the drilled ones from the 20VT LE) with the brembo pads and they were fantastic.

    best regards,

    Xir

The bottom ends of the 20v's are good for upto 350. It seems to be the rods which seem to be weak. There has been others who have got upto 400 on a standard bottom end but a bit too risky for my liking. Provided power is delivered in a linear state rather than immediate it should be fine.
Once i've had it running for a little while - i'll likely rebuild a forged engine.

These brake calipers are actually from a GTA but they're the same.
Ive not used them myself but they have been recommended them as being good.
I can always swap them out if they don't work well :)

Starts first time everytime (once you get the knack of how to turn the key). There is all kinds of detritus inside, doesn't go very fast, has no acceleration, or aircon, or power steering, or central locking. Does have a parcel shelft - stops the boot from shutting properly most of the time. :D

roll on February where being debt free means I am rewarding myself with a shiny new (to me) car.

Sounds a similar story to the other car.
I car share with my lady - she has a 53 plate renault clio that she's had as her first car. It's not pretty.. been crashed and repaired a few times and just over the 100,000 mark now. It really needs replacing but we're holding off until the house transaction finally goes through.

What you thinking of getting next Margo?

Seeing these types of threads makes me wish I wasn't so skint, whilst I try and pay off all my outstanding debt.

I currently have a 56 plate 2.0L TD 407 that is used for getting to and from work each day, but I want something more fun.

Hopefully next year I can get one of the cars on my list which currently consists of:

    Skyline GT R34
    Mazda RX7 or RX8
    Toyota Supra Twin Turbo
    Focus RS (new style)
    Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
    Mitsubishi Evo 7,8 or 9

Or the car I have wanted since I first set eyes on it

    Dodge Viper SRT10

Next year should be fun but expensive also.

I'm going to get a BMW :D nothing amazing, I should have about 2ish maybe 3 grande available to buy a car with in about February, so whatever I can find for about that money around then that's a BMW. I don't like credit, or ongoing payments, so I'd rather get something older that I own completely from the word go.

    +1

If you really want you could always strip out the Corsa, stick a few monitors in there and make the worlds most cramped racing simulator! :D
