Well I have a Xaser III (which is why I asked what you had, it doesn't look like a Xaser, more like a LanFire, 1 because it looks like a mid-tower, and 2 because of the fire LCD on the front) and I like it. Sure it's bulky, but the XaserIII has less of an overall premod look to it, as the only thing that's modded is the front (which I like, it's all layered alu, which makes it high build quality and gives it a cool texture). I payed a decent amount for it, about $130, but I think it was worth it. It's an extremely roomy case on the inside, although they could've given it more external 5.25" bays, and it's made extremely well. Really durable, some intuitive stuff thrown into it. The only complaints I have are: No removable mobo tray, this makes things difficult The "PCI Tool Free" things are absolute shite, as any card who's PCB extends to the top of it's PCI bracket (most gfx cards, my Audigy 2 ZS, some controller cards) require a rediculous amount of persuasion to get to work. Although, they have since fixed this design. Now, here is my question: You said that system is worth $2000? Maybe 3 years ago...but now that is a pretty...lower level system. What cpu is in it?
not 3 years ago cuz my comp isnt even 3 months old my signature has most of my stats me and my neighbot have all the invoices we added it up its close to 2000 remeber i have a liquid cooled system
if u have liquid cooling, u should get better compnents. no offense, but its kinda a waste of liquid cooling.
well, i think the colors on the inside could be more unified...tho, its kinda hard to tell with the pics...theyre kinda shaky, no offense. i like the case feet, they look like rollerblade wheels with led's in em. i have to agree that it looks a bit chunky...and, other than the cd-rom stealth, what did you mod on it?
it looks ok, just kind like u took all u could find and stuck it all on there randomly, without flow and matching.
I agree with the "make all the colors match" and such, right now it kinda looks like a modge-podge of different modding things, a unified theme would look much cooler. I voted Sorta as well. Oh, and ......I'm not out to tell you your system sucks, in any way, but...erm...well, I'll let the proof speak for itself: ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe (I'm assuming that's what you meant, as the A7N0X-E isn't even a mobo... )= $89.00 ATi 7500 128MB (not exactly the same card, but it's so outdated I can't find a perfect match)= $45.50 512MB DDR400 RAM (you didn't specify brand, so I went with good mid-range RAM) $67.50 You didn't specify a CPU, but even with the Athlon 3200+ (the best available SocketA CPU) you would only add $209.00 Koolance EXOS WC System (appears to be the one you have): $185.49 Bringing the total value to: $596.49 Estimated 3dmark03 Score: ~500 Now, I'm not trying to be bitchy, or get into a pissing contest with you, because that's not what I'm about, and in no way is my computer top of the line, just...making sure you have your facts straight. Anyway...now that that's over, it's time to go out and party. It's New Years Eve after all! ~Z
all the exos koolance part equal 500 dollars alone ram was 100 its high end i have a MSI TV Tuner Card TV@Anywhere Aound Blaster Creative Sound Card and a Fan COntroller u also have to add the cost of the case
you are also forgetting the hdd/hdd's the cd, floppy and all then all the less important stuff and maybe a few years are it was pretty top spec... if i was you i would update your: -Cpu -Motherboard -Ram *a maybe, depends on what you have and if more would be worth it -Graphics card
True, HDD, CD-ROM, and floppy can all equal out to about $200 or $250 probably, case is around $140, that does up the price a bit. I still fail to see how it can reach $2000 though, as I can build almost the best available system for around $2000, this is including dual 6800Ultras and an FX-55, with a gig of some good Corsair XMS RAM, a Raptor or two...I need to stop dreaming . Anyway...a Sempron is (arguably, I'm still sticking by the XP's) worse than an XP, so the 2800+ is only $109...and I don't see how that WC system is $500..but whatever. Webby is right, with a CPU/Mobo/RAM/gfx card update, you could have a decent system, even more if you used that WC to is capabilities ( ) and overclock. Try an s939 AMD64 system with a 6800GT, or a 6600GT/9800XT if you're on a budget.
Well, because we could go back and forth on this. IMO, a Sempron with 512MB of RAM and a slow HDD isn't going to perform. An AMD64 s939 3000+ with a good mobo and a gig of decent RAM, with a good SATA drive and a 9800Pro/XT will give you good results, results that you can be happy with, and you can overclock the snot out of it with that WC system. But, for some people who only play mild, year or two old games and surf the internet, a 9200 with a 2800+ Sempron and 512MB of RAM is perfect for them. So, it all depends on what you're looking for and what you want. I'm just giving my side of things. But ultimately, it's up to you do to what you want, as you're the one that will use this rig
And one more thing. Never say: My system was worth 4000$ in 1995. That is wrong. Past is past and now is now. Zephyr told you the rest. And putting all modding components you can buy inside a case ain`t a good idea. That whats too much ain`t good.
You really honestly paid 2000 dollars for this? Wow... your 'friend' must be laughing it up... First off.. the sempron? They have half the cache of an Athlon XP 2800+.. they're meant to be a budget cpu, not a gaming cpu... Altogether I'd say this system is worth 800 USD tops.. the ghetto-fied front bezel (missing 3.5 and 5.25 bay covers and such) on the case doesn't look pretty either... all the components (in my book) add up to no more than 800. Here's what I'd go with: 200GB Seagate HD w/ 8mb cache - 110 USD Mobile 2500-2700 athlon XP (good overclocker) - 70-100 USD Abit NF7 board - Less than 50 bucks Nvidia 5900XT or 9800PRO - Roughly 180-200 USD Other components are pretty much very little, as you already have a case and cd drives... But yeah, otherwise... no comment. PS: Hardly only depreciates in value over time (not counting the fluctuating prices of silicon chips, but yeah, it mainly drops over time)... at the time I built this computer I have now, it was roughly 500 bucks (not counting the various stuff I've added to it such as a dvd burner, 200gb hd, more ram, cpu cooler and various other parts)... Now (excluding those extra devices that were in there), it's probably only worth 400 or so... even though it hasn't even been a year yet..
