My first mod! I changed the red LED in my mouse to a white LED! You'll have to excuse the crappy picture quality, I used my cellphone (Samsung E800).

    Here are some pictures:

does it still work the same? also, post a pic of it in the dark, to show how much it glows through the sides there.

It still works as if nothing happened to it! You can shake it really fast and the cursor will keep up with you!

I have to wait untill tonight to take a photo of it in the dark. The problem is that white LEDs have a much higher forward voltage drop than red LEDs and so it isn't as bright as before, but I can always change the resistor!

Oh yeah, I put a 5.6cd LED in their, now that is a supa bright LED!

I want to change the LEDs in my case. I can't decide whether I want a white power LED and a blue HDD LED or vice versa! Suggestions?

Nearly any color LED will work fairly well in a mouse, although the wavelengths are different, which is why RED was selected... You can search google for "LED Mouse switch" or somethign to that effect and you'll find a 40 page explanation on what each color (and wavelength) does to the accuracy. (I thought I read somewhere blue was the worst, but don't quote me.. :))
