    my settings are
    core voltage - 1000
    core clock - 795
    shader - 1590

was using auto fan which only went up to 69%

775 core, 1500 shader is where I'd take the card to. Should keep temps down in the 70s which is much better and it won't be much slower than your current OC. Maybe 2fps.

    just changed it too
774 core, 1548 shader (cant seem to unlink the two slider bars on afterrburner)
    temp was at 75/76c
would this now be a good every day setting, also would it be worth me fitting an aftermarket cooler to push it a bit harder and keep temps down??

That would depend on the cooler. If you squeezed an Arctic Cooling triple-fan heatsink on there with a good application of TIM: you should see a fair reduction in temps, dependant on the airflow through your case.

    When I had my GTX470 I used

    1087mV
    865MHz core
    1730MHz shader
    1928MHz memory

That's the best that I could get but it was freaking insanely fast :D

75C is about right for those clocks. A good aftermarket cooler might be a good investment if you want to push it even further.

And quit bragging LennyRhys :D. My PSU can't handle those settings, it just cuts out :Waah:

    Hahah :D

I used to get 75-80C load temps but I had the Palit GTX470 which has a very good heatpipe cooler. Like most graphics cards the cooler is shrouded with plastic, and when I removed the shroud and used a 120mm fan on the heatsink, load temps dropped by 10-15C. :thumb:
