http://www.texacocarofthedecades.com UPDATE: So, an update... My friend with the Malibu has asked me to post this where I can. This is the only forum I check daily, so I figured it's worth another shot: This online car show has pretty much turned into a popularity contest between my friend with the car show award-wining Malibu and a bone-stock VW Beetle that, honestly, looks like crap. It's become more about gaining as many votes as possible before the deadline, and these two cars are trading points for the lead. The guy with the Beetle has accused my friend, on the contest facebook page, of cheating already with an automated voting system, which is honestly something he wouldn't be able to set up if his life depended on it (he's an engineering student, not a CS guy.) Both parties are posting this on as many forums as possible to try and gain some sort of lead. If you look at the cars, the Malibu definitely deserves a win over the VW Beetle, so I'm asking the forum members here to PLEASE go to the Texaco Car of the Decades website and give my friend's Malibu a "10" because he's put a LOT of work into it. Thank-you for your consideration. Winning in his era or winning the grand prize would mean a lot to my friend and his father. ------------------------------------------------------ Original post If you feel like checking out a pretty cool collection of car photos or read a couple car owner stories, check out the Virtual Car Show that Texaco is having at http://texacocarofthedecades.com. The car owners have posted a lot of pictures, and some videos of their rides along with their stories and descriptions. The cars that have been entered are competing for some stuff listed on the front page, so go ahead and rate a few of your favorites if you have a couple minutes (there is an email verification but it's not a big hassle) Shameless plug: my buddy has entered the blue '78 Malibu. He just took it to the drag strip and he ran a mid-11 in it. Not bad for his first time out, especially considering that he keeps it in show car condition. He'd REALLY appreciate your vote so he can beat the stock VW beetle in his class. Vote for all of your favorites from each category, and check back to see who the editors select for grand prize.
You can! Nothing to stop you importing classic American muscle, unlike Americans who face a hell of a time importing European vintage cars... The issue is you look a bit of a prat in such huge cars on such tight streets. There's nothing to stop you importing the new breed of retro-mobiles (Mustangs, Challengers, Camaros etc) either - Pookeyhead has a new(ish) Mustang that's a bit more reasonably sized.
When I visited Spain I was surprised how small all of the vehicles were. Similarly, when I arrived back in the states, all of the vehicles seemed gigantic.
