Ok, let me start by saying i need to have a decent job and a future and not want to kill myself every day because of how bollocks everything is. That all behind me, im in schoolim 17 and doing myAS levels. And at the moment i have only 2 of them left because i dropped the ones i didnt like, which surprise surprise was half of them. So i am left with IT and Physics. I was just wondering what qualifications everyone here has and what jobs it got them into. I am looking into MS qualifications and Cisco but i doubt thats going to help me get into uni. Thanks.
My suggestions - Though probably worth jack shite, as only 18 myself. Go to uni, but choose a subject you feel is interesting. Doesnt matter if it never gets you a job, its a good qualification to have. Doing a degree is 3years, isnt much time for what you get out of it. Then worry about things like MS qualifications afterwards. Not a conventional suggestion but still.
2 As/A levels is goign to make it hard to get into Uni? What did you drop? Sometimes you have to do subjects you dont like to get where you want to go. I would drop physics at the drop of a hat if I could but I cannot because without it I couldnt do what I wanted to do. Most decent unis will not accept MS(which are becoming 2 a penny) and Cisco(if you have some of the decent ones of these you dont need to go to uni) in their entry requirements.
at the start of the year i took Music tech, Maths, Physics and IT ( i was gonna take computing but school screwed me and a load of students over) But i dropped music because the course was remedial and really daft and the teacher was new and had never used Reason or any of the software we were using, so she was useless. Seccondly i am in the process of kinda droppin maths because my mind has stopped absorbing it. It just simply doesnt accept it anymore. So basically what your saying is im boned to an existance of gay little jobs of fixing pcs for people in and about where i live and i will never amount to anything. Yer i figured as much. I was looking at cybernetics because thats a nice geeky course to do, but i dunno anymore. Schools gay, i never had a problem but now it kinda matters. Bollocks.
Hey you've done pretty much the same subjects as me. I did Music Tech, Physics, Maths and Chem though. Music tech is a crap subject at the moment because its so new, the teachers dont know how to teach it. Compare it to Maths or Physics when your teacher has probably taught it the same way for 10years. Also examiners in Music tech can be a bit iffy. Its a really hard exam to get a B or A in. We used Logic, Acid, CoolEdit and CubaseSX. Actually depended on personal preference We had so much money thrown at us, only 3 in the class. Either way, stick it out with the physics and IT. I would have stuck out all of them, because the beauty of current A-levels is you only have to retake modules, rather than whole subjects makes revising and time management a lot easier (not that I did any ) To be honest choices now can have effects but they are minimised. In my belief. Both my parents have left school without A-levels. Though my dad now stacks shelves in an incredibly rewarding job in Tesco, he did have a career in the army for 30years which he enjoyed immensly(sp?). My mum has a job with a local council setting up a local Credit Union, she is only now studying for her degree. A-levels are pretty much only ever good for getting uni. But Uni is a very worthwhile endeavor. Physics is a big feather in your hat, though not so sure how IT can affect uni applicatons. Most of it boils down to - Do what you enjoy, if your not enjoying it do something else, but dont go around with your head in the clouds trying to find the perfect job. It takes work. Seems to worked out for my parents.
they started with like 10 in the music tech class, now theres 3 and thats because of the new teacher. We all pretty much use reason 2.5 and cool edit. Unless we are just doing some live recordings then its SX all the way. But im still doing musicy stuff outside school so my one artistic outlet isnt totally destroyed. But everyone is making a huge deal about my lack of any hope in the future and its getting boring now. I wanna just settle in a nice job with cool people i can get along with well all cool people apart from one so we have someone to treat like crap. Well basically i just want to be happy. And looking into the future i will be happy when i have a good job making money and im living happily. but the futures bright the futures orange.
Schools are like that - They like you to go to university makes their statistics look nicer. Its rammed down your throat - You must do this, You must do this - I always thought well the 100's of people before me didnt have to do it, and they survived just fine. Really wouldnt worry too much, your 17/18 and dont have much (if any) responsibility, unless you've just sent the girl next door up the duff. My mum was the same, she left with x amount of CSE's - Got qualified as a secretary, and then went from there. From doing working as a Special police constable, to doing her own business from home, to working for British Steel ..... There are so many choices at our age its unbelieveable, but remember its more like a sweet shop, all the choices are good. (Wow good metaphor, I think I should be a philisopher ) I loved my music tech lessons, because we were left to our own devices. One of our teachers was pretty useless, but we didnt rely on him. We taught ourselves, and each other. We always helped each other. Maybe didnt get the best marks but had a good time doing it. Collectivly we had a lot of music knowledge, pity we couldnt all just sit the one paper
im going to hopefully going to do math, computing, chemistry (not physics as the teacher is homosexual) and business studies. my gcse's are in a few months and im getting closer the the point at which i could screw up my life it seems to have gone so quickly... i guess im a little worried about the 'real world' where i have to get a proper job :0 place to live :0 ... be able to sleep, eat, drink, tidy :0 , wash :0 ,clean :0 its worring knowing that in a few months time, i could move out my house get a job, wife, and have kids though whats realy stupid is that your not allowed to watch 'xXx' movies i just think its a little stupid.
If you're letting your study/career choices be limited by the sexual orientation of your teacher, you're doing a great job already. Possibly it's because you lack some maturity in that department.
I know this will be totally lost on you, but an important part of a healthy relationship is communication. If you "need" to watch dirty XXX movies, you should probably look for someone that either 1. understands or even better 2. likes them too. There are plenty of married people who have found that a bottle of champagne, lightly scented oils and a steamy movie make a fantastic quiet (or not so quiet) night at home. As expected, simple and to the point. Puzzler, I wouldn't worry all the much about it. The next few years will see your attitudes and view on life change a lot, and things will get clearer. I didn't figure it out until I was almost done with my first degree. I would suggest not locking yourself into anything this early. Enjoy your early to mid 20's. And for goodness sakes, don't take it all so serious. Life has a funny way of working out. Trust me, humans have been doing this for a long time.
I like the cats in your sig, is that your site? If so ill get to work at getting my cats looking at them. I think there was something similar with a guy taking photos of like big landmarks with the previous photo in it. Its a funky kinda neverending idea, i like it.
tbh, it seems your quite focused on subjects you not going tpo be bored in. IMO You have to forget that ideal. Subjects in general may be interesting, but learning about them isnt always going to be. If you want a descent future you will need to be able to take the good with the bad and keep a level head. If you cant then maybe see someone about it.
