I concur. Looks like a load of BS to me, the first and second pics don't even correspond...

Yeah ok :p It's my buddy's place and we're doing some work to it (taking out everything inside of the place and putting up new stuff). The first picture is where the old brick stack for the furnace used to run (it's a sideways gap between the wall and the "broken" bit, about 7" or so). We figured that it looked just like the wall moved, so I just happened to have my phone with me (which has a camera) and took the picture.

The second picture is after we took the door and most of the front wall of the master bedroom out, but it's looking at the same area, just from outside the room.

And by the way, yes, we both laughed throughout this thread. Sorry!

Meh, it was worth a giggle. If you didn't find it funny, I'm sorry.

And by the way, wireframe, why would I want to lie about this kind of stuff on a forum who's occupients I'll never have any hope of meeting in my life-time? ;) I don't have a reason to lie, I'm just very unlucky.

But whatever, this thread has run it's course, and I'm sure it'll get closed down soon.

Thank you everybody for the advice anyway :thumb:

Actually, all-wood construction, when done right, is remarkably tough. I was in an older, wood-frame house during the last earthquake we had come through here (6.8 on the Richter, IIRC), and the house rode it out beautifully. It flexed quite a bit, but there was no structural damage. My church, a big wooden place built before earthquake codes, did the same thing. Lots of flexing and creaking, but nothing broke or cracked. Bricks probably would have cracked, but the wood didn't.

And yes, great photos, Malf. Very funny, and very convincing. Well done. I was among those of us who were taken in. I applaud your leet deception skills.
