Hello, a while back I've asked a series of questions reguarding some aspects on my sister's new motherboard which I've taken into consideration. With that being said, here is the finished product.

    The specs are:
[Soyo KT-400 Dragon Ultra Platnium Edition] [AMD Athlon XP2500+ ?week 43?] [OCZ 512MB PC2700 RAM] [Maxtor 60GB HD] [X-Dreamer Mid-Tower w/ 350W PSU] [Mitsuko Keyboard and Optical mouse] [LG Goldstar 48X24X48X/16X] [Cnet Voice Modem 56kbps] [Artic Silver 5] [SVC Exclusive Athlon Heatsink/Fan]

The pictures are hosted on a sub domain by this site, please visit it if you're interested in anything about programming - it is a site with very much potential: Programmers Unlimited

    Here are the pictures, enjoy:

The only real self-mod-build-it-from-scratch thing in here would be the lights on the processor fan utilizing the 555 IC timer. I have tried sleeving the power supply but failed miserably - I guess I'm still inept at cable organization. :grr:

I spy an inverter, so I'm guessing there could be a CCFL or two in there :)

    Thanks for the comments. :D

My sister is currently in the 6th grade and since my dad wanted me to build a computer that will last her about 3 to 4 years - I guess this will do. Right now she only uses her computer for playing minesweeper, music, paintings (Windows's Program) and e-mail. Her computer now outranks mine... [ aside]for now. [/aside]

There are a total of 4 CCFL tubes in there, 2 UV and 2 green. The two green ones are behind the side's frames and the 2 UV CCFLs are located near the PSU. You can see the molex powering the CCFL tube's inverter comming toward the window, need to find an extension and run it through the bottom.

Forgot to mention, Graphics card is a Chaintech GeForceFX 5600XT 128MB 8X AGP.

Temps are... @ 65.5 Degrees F ambiant - Processor is about 76 Degrees F at Idle. Need to overclock it as soon as I get some time and run benchmarks.
    OS is Windows XP

    thats way overkill
that computer will last her for like 10 years, unless she plans on getting into computing more haha

I agree - all that for just paint and Minesweeper?? :eeek:

Tell your dad that the computer is having conflicts or something and swap over the components with yours  :worried: :nono:

only joking, but it is an idea!

i did the power supply sleeving recently, my technique was to get some masking tape and a pen and as i took the wires out one by one i labeled them with numbers it only 20 dont sweat it. u gotta look at the pattern you take them out tho. i did it left, right, left, right and it worked out just fine

There is a p75 sitting in the corner over there --->
I'll do you a swap? It'll do what she want's just aswell as what she has now :) :D

Not too sure about that fan on the heatsink, whats with the red LED's strapped to the sides of it?

Lol, I'll look into it. :D

As for the LEDs strapped to the fan, they are wired to a 555 IC timer to flash in sequence. The 555 IC timer is wired up in astable mode to a temperature center placed just above the center of the heatsink where the core is. As the heatsink gets hotter, the LEDs flash at a more rapid pace - kind of like a visual temperature indicator. Right now it is at a very slow flash, but when I start overclocking... they should flash faster. Maybe this is the first time this kind of mod is thought of? :dremel:

hey dude. its for x-mas? yea, i have the same damn problem. basically the same setup as you, ASUS a7n8x mobo & a radeon9600-256mb,and double the ram. my sister is 15. she playes me in quake a bit tho. not sure she will use this thing to do anything more than chat with her buddies or do her homework tho.

    anyhow,

my suggestion is - if you wanna me it look nicer, get rid of those blue leds on the front. or add some blue inside. and have you ever seen a harddrive mounted backward? try this, take the back side panel off (yea the one behind the mobo) and then route the IDE behind it, along with a long molex... then take the front bezel off (or try with it on) and mount the HDD backward. looks so neat. just do me a favor and hide those IDE cables... and then do somthing with those damn molex'z that are flying everywhere =p.

other than that - its a damn good beast. its crying tho.. its saying "paint me green and black!" unless im mistaken... he wants you to use an airbrush too :naughty:

good job with it tho. should stand out in a dark room. (trade ya my rig for it =P ill bet your dad will never know!!!!)

    good luck.

Thank you for the comments and critiques. :D

To ChillingSP: I throught about that since the fan blowing air into the processor's fan covers the lit red LED temp indicators, but if you look at it directly, the LEDs outline the green fan so it looks like the LEDs are attached on the green fan instead of the processor fan.

To r3Q: I will consider doing that since the better looking, the better the computer (aesthetically :cooldude: ) For the molexs... I've tried sleeving them but I keep messing up - need practice. As for actually painting it, I've never painted before except the walls of my house but I'll look into it. I still have about $76 left of the stipend my dad gave me for this year's computer construction.

To Ronin: The heatsink/fan combo was ordered off of SVC's website and then I just hot glued some LEDs, constructed an astable 555 IC timer wired in astable mode, attached a thermo-resister to the middle of the heatsink and calibrated. I've never seen anyone sell something like this before so you can say it is an original. :D
Here is a pic of the actual circuit without any of the external connections save for the power hook-up (Notice my work surface)

To -Xp-: By box I am assuming you mean the whole case. Here is the link to where I bought it - they have good pictures. SVC

If any person is wondering what my supplies are to actually build things, here is a teaser:

You have to have supplies to do mods.
