Could be it's overheating. Try and check your temperatures if possible?

Is that 53 at idle or under load? Also, it potentially could be caused by your power supply, though I'd have thought it should handle a 275.

its either not getting enough amps, which i think is very likely, or you have a bad card.

i think it could be the p.s.u and at the moment iv got the 275gtx in our lasses case hers. too is a hiper type m 580w (not as much in her case as i have) as mine and it seems ok in xp playing c&c redalert 3.
so it still makes me wounder wot it could be?
my 8800gtx says that nvidea recomends a 450w and xfx says they recomend 650w. iv had no problem with the 8800.
so to put it blunt im stumped. :wallbash:
it is more of a problem in dx10 mode than dx9 but thats just because it locks up mostly. while in dx9 i get mainly graphic glitching.

i think its recommended you have 40 amps, but i believe thats a best case scenario. still. how do you have the card hooked up? i believe you have only one pci-e connector, so did you use an adapter for the other 6 pin connection? did you chain it? if so, that may be the problem.

yer i have only 1 6pin connector and had too chain the other by 2*4pin molex (like i had too with my 8800gtx) even tried it with just 1 molex and same still happens even unhooked a couple of devices (h.d.d floppy network card) i know there not the most power hungy devices but thought id try anyhow but still the same :wallbash:

Try using another PSU with 2 PCI-e 6pin connectors. Sounds like a PSU problem.

As trig has pointed out, it is important to have a solid and capable 12V rail - just in case there are any Hiper puritans out there, I'm not putting the brand down -. With the GTX 275 the recommended requirements are 550W psu with a 40A 12V rail. The info below is actually from Palit's site - http://www.palit.biz/main/vgapro.php?id=1156 :

Most other GTX 275 manufacturer sites I have looked at state the same thing as a recommended requirement. The wattage output is not the main issue as I've seen power supplies like the
Corsair HX 520W easily run this card (it has a total of 40A on the 12V rail). I've even tested my GTX 275 on my other rig which uses a Corsair VX 550W (41A) with no problems.
Do you have a another machine or friend with a different PSU that meets the recommended requirements? If that's the case, try and test the card on that to see if you get any improvement.

It really sounds like a starved graphics card to me, unpluging other items may do squat because they could be on a different power rail.

The rail supplying power to the PCI-E plugs could be seperate and underpowered for todays needs. remember 580W is a combined total of power, the 12v line might only be rated to 300W which would be the source of the problem.

Hence why PC Power and cooling PSU's are so expensive as there single rail monsters throwing out tonnes of amps!

    +1
    The Turbo-Cool 1200 specs of +12V@ 100A (115A peak) are astonishing.

This should give a bit more info on his Hiper PSU's spec:

I must admit when I upgraded my graphics recently I changed my power supply to a Corsair TX 850W. It's a bit more than I need at the moment but this leaves me some headroom for my future upgrades. A good, solid single 12V rail with 70A shouldn't leave me struggling. It was just within my budget as well.:thumb:

corsair psu's are good bang for the buck.. like someone posted even the vx550 is a nice single rail.. for 115 you could probably find the tx750- I bought the tx850 last year for 90 shipped (a black friday deal after $20 rebate visa they sent in the mail)
