A friend of mine had a rather beat up controller his brother has abused over the years and asked me if i could do anything with it the pictures speak for themselves Broke analog stick mechanism from multiple drops Sharpied black blood drip for some reason.... Bottom screws missing after failed attempt to screw back together meaning slightly seperated Scratched, dirty, grimey.... Heres what i did with it New analog Mechanism High gloss black finish Candy Apple red Bumpers, Triggers, Mic Plate, Start Backs Blood Red Thumbsticks Blackout Guide Button 9mm Real Brass shell Buttons 12 Guage Real Shotgun D pad (Modified Lower) Considering this was a relatively quick mod i have'nt moved onto led and rapid fire modding yet im not sure if i will with this controller but im really happy with the outcome
i prefer them, they feel nicer the dpad im not so sure but i play cod most so i never need the d pad only when pressing down to get killstreaks
Sorry just noticed this one Ebay there actually not bad pricing considering if you get certain shotty D pad be prepared to mod it to get it on there The guy i got it from i don't even think tryed to put it on a controller and see if it fit Thanks jeff im starting painting some shells in different camo schemes soon and possibly making some Unofficial game controllers for games coming out like MW3, full bullets, camo shell with room for a clan tag or logo on there aswell, choice of colour thumbsticks and leds Im also working on making a device to fit in a pc drivebay not the front bay because most people have nice clean builds, but something that could maybe go in a harddrive bay or 5.25" with the reciever going internal to usb
You really should be selling those controllers DP. I'd pay for the pleasure of owning one that for sure.
cheers mate was hoping someone would say that imm in the process of designing a site to sell them Just small time stuff maybe 4-5 base sections Camo Game special edition Gloss Matte Custom Just off the top of my head then accessories im thinking of a name for the site though to buy the domain name i could keep Lanmunition.net but its not something i feel that flows well
Nah, not really relevant, sounds like you're running a shady bomb making factory.. Some thing that singles out what you're doing is needed. Like custom controllers maybe along those lines.
Do you mind me asking what paints you used to get such a good finish? I've done one mod on my own swapping everything over to white parts, but I'm going to be doing probably a black and yellow rockstar themed one. I just need something to do an effective paint job on it. I have some Tamiya spray paint for my RC car shell I'm going to do, just not sure how well it would translate onto a 360 controller. Could do with it being hard wearing since I'm a rather angry gamer.
Paints not a big deal buy a brand name no "Halfords" own stuff even if its plastic-kotes clean light coats of black till you get an even covering don't over do any of the coats else smearing will occur then a couple light clean coats of clear Give it a good amount of time to dry before coats and for the clear to cure else its going to not as nice I used my mates paint gun to do it so i can't give you the exact paint brand i have no idea i just asked him what he had going for free Take your time and its easy to get a paint finish as good with cans
Ok folks a little test work today I used a pewter today with a matte black finish the pewter hd a almost crystal glitter affect which gives a nice contrast NOTE: This is simply test piece on a half prepped controller mainly because i don't like using all my resources when its only test, this has not be clear coated or primered! This controller will be sanded down again and used again for further scheme testing I plan to offer tiger in 2 or 3 layer multiple colours and finishes
If you want to try any of the LED mods let me know! This is what one of my customers did with his custom controllers goes by the name of WcModz to give him the credit. The SMD LEDs on the ring of light are probably the most common but most fiddly LEDs to do (as they're silly small!) other than that they're just 3 or 5mm LEDs in the guide, xyab, triggers and bumpers. They make a big difference to the look of the controller. The paint finish looks great by the way.
Totally up for doing led mod i have a spare faulty board so i could give a test run on that before i try the real deal I hear the ring of light is fiddly
Many thanks for that DeadP1xels! I got my yellow replacement sticks, triggers etc today so put them on the white shell. Got another replacement official shell coming from ebay too and I'm going to use that as my victim. I was hoping I might be able to save a little and use the rest of my spray cans after doing my RC shell, but previous experience would definitely say it won't be enough to do it well. The pewter/matte one looks amazing. You've definitely got the skills to make good on selling them. I was going to try the LED mod on the ring, however I lost the LED's in the envelope they came in. They're ridiculously small. Maybe you do a selection of pre-painted ones, and also get people to send you their own to have done?
