I had one of those once, but it was because of a refrigerator breakdown. No dreams, only puking.
Please avoid Nexxo's switch ideas. I can confirm how easy it is to make the control unit flip it's lid.

Damn, now I regret I never tried good shrooms in my younger years. Did some acid, but we never had access to decent shrooms. :( #firstworldproblems.

    Right a proper update lol

Started getting the lathe work done, there's 4 of these to do machined down to 10mm from 16mm

next the end of the 10mm section has to have a M10 thread on it and the end to be machined to 8mm

This shows all the parts in the motor end, spacer, bearing, spacer, lock nut, coupler, and the motor and of course the motor mount

All assembled in the motor mount.

I like those all-in-one bearing/motor mount blocks. I didn't even know they made those.

    Those aren't ballscrews!

    /pedant

    Sorry.

By the way, what are you going to do about backlash? Those brass nuts don't seem to be of the anti-backlash variety. I've always preferred teflon infused delrin for lower speed hobbyist applications, it'll be interesting to see how you keep friction down with the brass nuts.

Yeah I know they are Leadscrews not Ballscrews although I've never referred to then as Ballscrews, as for backlash not sure as yet, oh well oiled

Tbh I may upgrade to Ballscrews later on

Depending on what software you use backlash can be compensated for but your leadscrews will eventually wear down a little with brass nuts. The wear can be uneven which makes compensating for backlash harder. Hopefully your nuts have minimal backlash to start with and I hope I'm not being too negative. Everything you've done so far has been great!

If you spend any more money on this we will be forced to stage an intervention.

I've not had a chance to get into the software so couldn't say re the backlash. Edit re backlash apparently with these lead screws and nuts I can expect 100 micron the software adjustment method is in mach3 and not very good

The nuts are actually made of Bronze not brass so should be better

Yeah definitely a little over budget now lol in for a penny in for a pound as they say I'm going to finish it even if it the last thing I'll ever do :eeek:
