Well finally decided I'd have a go and see what I could get, got my XP 1700 to run at 1.5 GHz, but grr I'm bottle necked by my cheap ebuyer DDR :(

So 1.496 GHz isn't much of an improvement on 1.47 really, am going to buy anew Mobo and ram after xmas so whats ya recomendations??

The Asus board gonna support the new Athlons coming out?? Cos mate of mine says go KT 400, but I'm not so sure.

Looking at RAID version of the Asus board, looks nice I have to say :)

The asus will support enything upto and including the xp2800 running at 333fsb .
It has a 1/5 divider when running 333(166ddr) FSB so PCI will run at 33

    I can't immediately see the point in changing from a KR7A to a KT333 or KT400 board.

A better course of action is to get some good 333MHz capable memory, and overclock on your KR7A (which will overclock nicely), and then get a new board when you get a new CPU, and use the memory you bought.

If you must have a new board now, I'd look at abit's KD7 and AT7-2.

To be honest you should be able to get some more out of the current chip.

If the memory is the problem are you running it faster than CPU clock speed, try turning that down .

Hmm I suppose getting better memory would be a cheaper option, certainly something to think about though :) There really isn't anything wrong with the KR7A, only had it since the end of July.Begining of August, so not really much point in spending money on yet another board when there's no need to.

EDIT 23:30 ish: now running 137x11 = 1507 MHz, lol seems stable, if I go above that then that when Windows crashes, 2K is now telling me my CPU is an XP 1800+

Yeh know what you mean, CDRW RMA'd for replacement - after 2-3 weeks I got a refund and had to reorder.

Ive spent a couple of grand over there and usually they are pretty good, quick delivery.

But I know a couple of others who have had to RMA (both with CDRW's) weird
