Hi all, I'm new on here and thought I'd get opinions on a mod I just finished. I know the ammo box thing has been done before (ZapWizard's is great), but this one is a little different than the others I've seen. The wiring isn't as clean as I'd like, but I'm new to this. It's watercooled, Athlon 64 3500+, Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, BFG 6800 GT PCI-E, 1 GB Corsair RAM, 36.7 GB WD Raptor OS Drive, 250 GB Storage Drive, Audigy 2 ZS. Here's what I started with: Here's midway through: And here's the finished computer:
Whats the name of thet power cable splitter thingy, can't seam to find those seperately anywhere. I assume thats to power a pump or something on the inside?
Nice clean job, I like the fan grill. Make sure and remove those bullets before you go to any public LANs.
Zero_Distortion, I think that power cable thing is called a Hermaphrodite Connector. It came with the Asetek watercooling kit I used. ZapWizard, The bullets aren't live rounds. They've had all the gunpowder removed and the primers shot out, so they couldn't go off. But you're right, I might get hassled about those at a public LAN. Thanks for the comments. Racehorse
Looks nice, though I still prefer stealthed jobs on these types of mods. Making it look as much as possible like the item you were modding really makes it stand out, like Zap Wizards Ammo Case. But that's really good, I may have to dwelve in some watercooling before I work anymore on my frist mod...because otherwise I can't stealth it that well with fans.. Anyone got good resources for watercooling (learning setup and all that jazz?) Regards,
Hemaphrodite!!! , sorry im easily entertained Nice case, i really like the way you done it so cleanly. how did u apply the yellow text on top because u painted over the original
I really like it especially the detail in which the power and reset buttons look like the back end of bullets, or am I wrong?
alter_ego, I used a paint marker (didn't know they existed before) and a stencil to put the lettering back on. smoguzbenjamin, It took me about 80 hours total to build it. Luckily, my schedule this semester is a lot lighter so I had some time. Mattt, The metal was a pain in the butt to cut. It's really thick. I went through a lot of cutting wheels on the dremel and ruined several jigsaw blades, too. Cutting the metal is what took most of the time. The fan grill alone took me about 4 hours to cut out. TroubledMind, Yeah, the power and reset buttons are both the back end of cartridges, as is the DVD eject button. The power button is a shotgun shell and the other two are smaller calibers. CraZy, The cartridges on the side are .30-06 caliber. Mr. P, I got the box at an army surplus store. They had all sorts of them. They're actually pretty close to the size of an ATX case to start with. Racehorse
Hey, nice case, but why didn't you wire the pump strait into your powersupply? Instead of having that gay cord come out, it would like 10X better.
