Xbox 360 My Xbox 360 has seen its final day

    My beloved Xbox 360 has now seen it final days, i had it for 18 montsh and constantly use it to play games/online and watch DVD's and now it refuses to turn on. I have checked the usual things power supply, cables, etc... As it is over 18 months old do you think its worth me calling Microsoft to see if they can fix it. It is basic model without the 20gb HDD. Anyone with any experience of this, I may have the orginal reciept somewhere

    MS will fix it for you. They extended the warranty to 3 years so you shouldn't even need the receipt

    The 3yr warranty is only for the RROD though, anything else and you'll have to pay. Definitely worth giving them a call however, see what they say.

    bring it back where you bought it, easiest solution i brought back two to game and they just swap them over the counter. they know th rrod warantee is 3 years and its no skin of their nose, they jsut return it to ms. but i dnt knw whaere u bought it but its worth tryin if its local

    or MAKE it RROD.... stick it a very hot place and turn it on for a while, you'll get your RROD soon enough

    What language is that?

    khalilm, go to https://service.xbox.com/servicehome.aspx and register your 360, the site will tell you if it's in warranty or not, you can request an RMA of the console also on the site, and UK telephone numbers are around somewhere too.

    If its RROD why don't you just fix it?

    unlucky dude. I couldn't RMA my 360, so I sold it as spares and brought a PS3 a few months later. Having almost completed MGS4, I'd say it was a wise decision.

    Those don't fix it, just kind of do this hackish thing to make it work for a few minutes while really furthering the damage considerably.

    Make it RROD because when they replace the motherboard they may even replace the DVD drive it after testing they discover its also on its way out. They did with Samkiller42's. I just got a motherboard replacement.

    I have a question for you lot, If somebody's xbox 360 somehow happened to get a custom firmware installed on it would i be able to RMA it?, Do they check to see if you've opened up your 360 before sending a new one?

    they have seals on them, which obviously break when opened.
