Hi, Anyone else had a nightmare with Hermes? They're so slow, tracking information is rubbish, and they won't talk about deliveries with recipients! Plus - if an order is out for delivery, it doesn't seem like it's guaranteed to be delivered... Anyway - rant over. Anyone had a good experience with them?
Nope. I thought a package had not been delivered, until I happened to look around the back of the house one afternoon. The driver has tossed it over the fence, and not bothered to leave a card saying where it was. Good job it was just a bit of square section steel bar for my engineering class - being left out in the rain for 3 days after being chucked a fair distance would probably have done for anything else...
Never even heard of this company :-/ do they operate in the UK? Sounds like something to be avoided, thanks for heads up...
Yep UK based super-budget courier www.myhermes.co.uk Their local 'couriers' are self employed and paid per delivery made (was around 60p per parcel) so leaving a card won't make them any money. The guy round here delivers in a rusty VW Golf estate.
Up here they also deliver peoples perscriptions from the local chemist lol seems no parcel is to small
Never had an issue with MyHermes - I use them to ship most of the stuff I sell on ebay. I'd avoid Nightfreight like the plague - they like to use the boxes for an impromptu game of five a side before delivering them.
Had some issues with them. I've had items thrown over the back gate (although royal mail often do this too!) Items not turned up until nearly 2 weeks after despatch No cards left Items left with neighbors and no card left. The thing that really gets my goat though is that there is no depot. As I am rarely home in the day and not often in the office I am quite happy to nip to whichever couriers depot is required to pick up. You cant do it with these guys.
The picture of Hermes is all I have in my mind whenever I hear the name of the company... It's infuriating - at our old office, someone used to deliver from the back of a rusty old toyota corolla - we seem to have a phantom non-deliverer now, though! The worst bit - if you call to ask where the parcel is, they'll tell you that they can only deal with the sender for enquiries, and end the call. Still - it's all good fun, right? I've noticed a trend of eBay sellers using Hermes to deliver! What's wrong with good ol' Royal Mail?
Only had one experience and it was good - left card in door and offered to redeliver later in the evening.
I think it generally depends on your area as they are a 'home network' delivery company. I;ve not had any problems with Home delivery network courier companies in my area but I can and do see where the risk lies in this business structure.
Noted - thanks Williz - I'm in an office in the city, so perhaps it's not easy for them to deliver here - congestion charge and all... But - why on earth aren't they willing to confirm whether a parcel is actually going to be delivered?! Perhaps I'm expecting too much...
Not a clue mate, I think it's just a bad business model on a whole tbh! I live out in the countryside Towns and villages
They utterly destroyed a UPS I ordered, I refused to accept the delivery and the guy gave me a card with a reference and phone number to call or organise a refund. Phoned the number, they had no record of my parcel and the reference number (printed on a sticker marked MyHermes not hand written). The sender then sent me another one, which they lost. The sender then sent a third with 'ParcelFarce' and it arrived next day in perfect condition. God knows if they ever got their cash back from the two screwed up deliveries.
I hope they don't screw me over, they were the only option I had when purchasing something. I live in a small city so they shouldn't have problems getting around and finding places. Lets hope so anyway...
Never been on the receiving end of Nightfreight....until today. Waiting for some angled aluminium (5m length) to be delivered. A four day nightmare! I'm sorry I ever used them as a sender.
makes you wonder how they avoid the watchful eye of the Trading Standards? surely they must get complaints from almost every second customer!
