True. Mind you, at least you can collect from their depot...

I shudder to think of the damage they would have caused if you hadn't packaged items so well, mate. :thumb:

I can't stand them: I had a package that was scheduled for delivery one day and they didn't bother trying to deliver - they just didn't turn up and delivered the next day.

@JamesRC - was their tracking information that they provided you with any good? Or was it as useless as usual?

I do find the corners on boxes quite dangerous...

"myHermes" I've never used them but a while ago a person stopped me as I was leaving my house and said "could I sign for this parcel and then give it to addressed person who lived a few doors down as there was no one home" f*****g cheek of the bloke, he gets paid and I do his job apart from the fact that I could sign with any name and run off with the parcel.

I said "No" and he was visibly pi***d off at me, he was delivering for myHermes :eyebrow:

Sounds like a 'secure' delivery method to me...

Actually the Royal Mail is now doing a similar scheme here they will deliver mail/parcels to a neighbour if you're not in they even do a sticker for your front door to opt out of the scheme

@Teelzebub - They are, but at least with Royal Mail, they'll explain the details of who/where it was left, and in case of query, will actually talk to the recipient. The problem with Hermes being that they won't discuss the delivery with anyone but the sender, which is enormously frustrating. That, coupled with a parcel left with a (potentially distant) neighbour, sounds like a recipe for disaster...

Just checked my tracking for a My Hermes delivery. It reads "Delivered to Porch", what the heck is that supposed to mean!?! I live in a top floor apartment, so hopefully it means he got into the building, walked upstairs and left it outside the door where no one would see it. Alternatively he could have just dropped it off outside!

Edit: Well it was just sitting outside my front door when I got in, kind of a safe place I guess as it is not outside, but anyone in the building could have helped themselves to it. Good job I don't live with scumbags.

I'm *still* waiting for a delivery, which is well outside the 3-5 working day estimate. It still shows as "Collected", with no further updates. Amazing.

I don't know what company it was but a while ago our neighbours had an expensive inflatable bed delivered (don't know why it was so expensive but they told me it was >£250...) - the courier just left it on their doorstep. The only problem was that he was away on work and she was working a double shift that day so it just sat there on the doorstep for 6 hours before eventually I went and brought it into my house - she was appalled with the courier when she finally got home the next day to find that if I hadn't taken the parcel in then it would have sat there for about 15 hours...

The tracking info said "courier to re-attempt" - but they hadn't "attempted" the first time!

Any news on your hermes order?

I thought about that, but chances are it will just be harming the poor sap getting paid nothing to deliver it more than anyone.

I know it was his or her fault for just dropping it on my doorstep, but it wasn't too bad of a place to leave it and saved me a trip to a depot like any other courier. Chances are they aren't doing this job because they enjoy it or for the great pay, more likely because they needed a job to pay for food/rent. I would feel bad screwing them over. /saint matticus :hehe:

@JamesRC - nada as yet. Just over a week after collection, it now shows as 'delivery scheduled'. Let's just see how long it takes to turn up...

Recently got shoes from Amazon sent by Hermes; I'd never heard of them before. Missed the first delivery because the estimated date was 5 days later, so he left a card. Noticed the contact phone number was a local landline. Didn't need to call as it stated he would attempt redelivery the next day.

The next day there he was with my package.

So my experience has been positive at least.
