    I just moved my forum to a new server with mySQL 4 and it runs much better when the forums busy :)

    Have you thought about moving to stored procs (I think they're in MySQL 4)? I think they are compiled, and would probably be better than query caching... or aren't they compiled in MySQL? (I'm just going by what I know about MSSQL).
