I have a DVD+R Burner and I burned some files on a DVD Disc, however it can't be read in any of my DVD-ROM Drives or my Gf's but it can be read in my Burner.

I used Nero to burn some AVI Files. When i put them in the DVD-Rom it pops up a screen saying "Please Insert Disc"

Can anyone shed some light? :thumb:

Stand alone DVD players do not recognize AVI files because of the codec's used. Best place to find help about creating DVD's is at dvdrhelp.com or doom9.org...

    Ah ha! Okay...

What software did you use to burn it and did you finalize the disc?

I used Nero and yup I finalized it.

Edit- o wait maybe I didn't finalize it.. guess not making multi session is different.. I'll give that a try.

    Thanks alot!

Dont make a multisession disk, they're crapo :p Just whack as much as possible on each ;)
    Is it a dual +/- re-writer or just +?

instead of just finalizing the disk make sure you choose: No Multi session in nero, I too have made this mistake many a time.
It may not read in any other DVD-Rom drives becuase not all drives can read DVD Rs (+ imo is one of the most incompatable types too)

I know standalone dvd's only usually play - so that maybe the reason your roms won't read it.

More than likely. My -R works in everything i chuck at it.

Or just try a different brand of disk.

That's all I use as I have a +r bruner and have never run in to any problems at all. Have you tried a different brand of media?

I see you're in the US... Have you gone to Staples? I get 10-packs of Sony 4x +r media with jewel cases for about $15...

Combination of VirtualDub and TMPGEnc works like a dream... Use it all the time to make svcd's and know that it'll dvd's too...

Philips do a great mpeg2 encoder which ive only tried once. The problem with it is that you cant control the size of the output and i dont know much about bitrates :(
