Ok, i know many of you may flame me for picking this case, but i honestly thought it looked cool, and is very lightweight. There were only 1 or 2 minor things that dissapointed me. 1 was that i couldnt stealth my drives with the front panel closed, but it was no big deal really. The other was just not enough room by the bays. That being said here are my specs: Antec TruePower 430W PS Antec Super Lanboy DFI LANPARTY NFII ULTRA B AMD XP 3000+ @ 2.1Ghz 1GB Corsair Value Select 184 Pin DD400 PC-3200 (Dual Channel) SAMSUNG 120GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive XFX Geforce FX 5700LE 256mb Creative Labs Audigy 2 Gamer Vantec "IceBerq" Coppery All-In-One VGA & Chipset Cooling Kit ZALMAN CNPS7000A-Cu Pure Copper CPU Cooler Samsung 16X DVD-ROM Samsung 52X32X52 CD-RW Kingwin Thermal Center Now here are my pics. Sorry for them being blurry my camera is a pile and im too poor to care enough. Im waiting for my UV Cold Cathode to come in the mail so the board reacts more. I will also be taking care of the crappy fan cover on the front panel and using UV tracing on the lines of my cards. I would like to add a blow hole but im not sure how, nor am i that good with a dremel. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. The URL will be under each one in case they dont show properly Heres the inside: Notice the HS had to be shaved to fit on the cpu. :? http://arkuden.com/comp1.jpg Here is the front when the two drives were stealthed. The door wouldnt allow them however. http://arkuden.com/image1.jpg Here is with the newly modded door. The middle was replaced with very thin blue plastic and hard acrylic behind to keep its shape. http://arkuden.com/comp3.jpg Here is the computer once it was up and running. http://arkuden.com/comp3.jpg Like i said, i am not finnished doing things to this case. I plan on doing something with the dumb blue thing covering the fan but im not sure what yet. Also i want to add a blow hole if it can help with cooling at all. The PSU is very hot. The case is burshed aluminum so im not sure if anything special needs to be done to dremel the fan hole for it. Hope you like it.
Ok, i just purchased a new HSF that is smaller and should be able to do what i need done better than a half chopped zalman. Here is the link to that: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=35-110-007&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE I also got some high performance artic silver thermal grease and a nice high performance zalman fan with grill to use on a blow hole.
i recently saw that case in a store... it opens a little drawer ... i hate the (manufacturers)finish on that part... just doesn't fit the case
http://www.bit-tech.net/article/117/ Excelent article on making a top window. And I agree, dremel isnt the thing to be using when cutting a large piece of metal off like that, I'd use it to smooth off the edges though. But I dont actually HAVE a dremel, so I'd probably use sandpaper (same principle applies to a blowhole as a window... no, I'm not going mad )
No I don't, it's a perfectly fine case. And I really like what you did to the top door, to make it blend in with the transparent lower half. Nice work!
thanks guys. Yeah the little green box is a push open drawer that you can use for screw storage or what ever floats your boat. Thankfully the green pic is just a cardboard insert so its not permanent. You can replace it with anything you wont.
they seem to work amazingly so far. Ive not gotten enough music to burn a cd yet and i dont have anything to back up. But the DVD rom is quiet and efficient
I was going to recommend this case to a friend and your pics of the inside have made me want to even more now . I like the fact that in the insides are shiney and clean looking and the fan placements are excellent. Nice job on the front door by the way, looks like it's been there all the time .
v nice job on the door. It looks like its supposed to be there, i love it!. Its a shame the Zalman didn't fit very well, they are great heatsinks. mod on! btw: Antec PSUs run extremely hot. you could place more fans to cool it off, but its just creating more noise imo. If it gets really toasty the fans will speed up anyway.
excellent mobo i have the kt versin of the lanparty, but i really dont like the front of that case, antec is gettin waaay to tacky with their newer stuff.
Thanks for the comments! Im glad to hear that its norm for antec PSU's to be a little hot so now i know that its not an error of my own. I think i will be adding a blow hole to help that heat escape and drop my temps a bit Does anyone have a good guide to create a blow hole, the case is brushed aluminum so im not sure what i need to be weary of. Also any other ideas to help things around would be more than welcome.
Well like cutting any material, you should mask off the area to avoid scratches. Blowhole probably easiest done with a holecutter, but remember, cut too little off never too much! That way you have good room to finish the edges and get a nice round hole. Also, make sure you get a fan grill/guard! I refer you again to the link I gave earlier, where it outlines making a window in the top panel (same principle, different function). http://www.bit-tech.net/article/117/
all case mods have to start somewhere. i know that i started out with a horrible looking beige and blue case and made it in to a pretty cool looking computer (what other people have said). this case has plenty of potential just like any other it will just need a lot of creativity and time. MOD ON!
cool case dude and good work on the mods. I got an antec lanboy thats very similar (my nik nak box is over the expansion ports on the back) love the brushed aluminium case and the layout is pretty good too although i wasn't too chuffed about the door on mine and was toying with the idea of puttin a window in it but wasn't sure wether it would work or not from yours i can plainly see that it does, great work and i think I'll have to go for it, although i have to say that it does look a little too dark for my tastes so i would perhaps add a few led's that light up when the muter is on or the door is shut. my only critisism (and who am i to critisize...) is that it does look a little messy on the inside with all the cables all over the place but as long as it works i guess thats all that matters keep it up dude
yeah the door looks much better imo than the stock look. I want to put some leds behind it to give it the right light. but im no elecrician so im not sure how to go about it with out frying something important haha There is a new thread in the project forums for the work that will be started on it. Plus the winamp led vis. i made for it is in there http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=63579 Thanks for the comments everyone. Pray for me as i start the cutting tomorrow.... poor aluminum case
