    as the title suggests...

would a 2.5in SSD without an enclosure fit in the space of a 1.8in SSD in an enclosure?

trying to figure out if i can get a better performance SSD cheaper to fit in my Vaio P.

    thanks.

i don't think so, there's a reason RunCore SSD's are so popular in netbook community.

but im interested if you can make it fit somehow.

Nope it wont. The PCB isnide is pretty much 2.5" across, so there's no chance of it fitting in a 1.8" enclosure.

Intel do sell 1.8" SSDs though - the X18 series I believe.

yep. i know. was just hoping for another solution.

dang. i figured as much. but thought i would ask.
though i am not exactly trying to fit a 2.5in pcb within a 1.8in enclosure.
just wanted to fit a 2.5in pcb within the space of a 1.8in enclosure.

yep. i knew that. hence the naming.
was just hoping for a better performance ssd for cheaper.

    thanks.

i know how you feel, the 4000 odd RPM drive in my Compaq Mini 700 is way too slow for anything, i wish i can put my desktop's current Samsung 64GB in it and perhaps buy a good SSD for my desktop, with TRIIM support.
