This thread will explain why I need it. Yes, my current dead board has DDR2/DDR3 but I don't feel the need I did to plan for an upgrade to DDR3 any more so that’s one feature panned right there. I don't want a lemon but I don't want a gold plated monster. Something that will work with the spec I put at the end and something that will last a few years so my missus can have this PC when I go i7 next year. The spec listed is my current spec minus the mobo, but there is a chance that I have a dead stick of ram also. I can sort that myself with a kind donation from my uncle though. CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.67ghz (No OC) Socket 775 Ram - OCZ Reaper HPC 1066mhz DDR2 GFX - HD4890 1gig PSU - Antec true power trio 650w I also have two sata2 HD's and one IDE optical drive. Any other specs needed just ask. I’d like to stay sub £100 for the board if at all possible. I’ve had a look at the Asus P5k pro but can’t seem to find a seller right this second, any thoughts there? Any and all help is welcome.
I have always been a fan of gigabyte if you can afford £35 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Giga...(x16)-DDR2-1066(OC)-800-MHz-SATA-II-Micro-ATX
this is all you need http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152225 gigabyte G31M-ES2L nice little board good for moderate to low overlcocks too.
You looking to buy new or will you consider second hand? If new and it was my money, the Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR is a good bet. £86.03 @ CCL. If you want cheaper you can go for the P43 boards which are more or less the same as the P45 but without Crossfire support. Be careful choosing because a number of them are DDR3 boards. If second hand, a number of people are shifting 775 boards in the marketplace.
If you are not overclocking then you don't need to spend much, especially as you are buying out of date hardware. I'm agreeing with bagpuss, that mobo at 40 quid inc delivery will do everything you need.
From your specified requirements, the Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L would be spot on for you, no need to spend "big money"... ________ The Peak Towers Condo
Bought the EP43-UD3L mobo only to find out, at the last minute, it was a dead stick of ram.....Micro Direct were nice enough to swap the board for a 4gb kit to replace the dead stuff so all seems to be well.
