Going towards the slim watches check out the Fossil Arkitekt watches. They are super slim, come if a few colors, and even have a diamond at the 12-o-clock. They cost $100, I have this one: Linky They also sell a black, charcol, and blue faced one. Of course all the Fossil LCD watches are geeky: http://www.fossil.com/jump.jsp?itemID=961&itemType=CATEGORY This one may be my next watch
ok firstly dont buy a fossil watch, they have poor quality movements and most of them are cheaply plated. as for skagen, used to be very good watches for the money but they are now ownded/made by zeon on the uk and not the parent danish company. zeon do mass made watches for catalogues i.e. dont touch with a barge pole.
I've still yet to find a watch as "eye catching" as mine. People have walked up to me, grabbed my wrist, and just stared at my watch in wonder for 5-10 minutes. My friends kid (2 years old) can sit and watch the movement for hours.
So far I have owned four fossil watches with zero problems, all of them still ticking on time after years. The Arkitekt line is made out of 100% stainless steel, and I get a rash with to most cheap metals. over a year with this watch so far ,with no problems.
yes but im speaking from a jewellers point of veiw with 6 years personal experience selling watches and the owner has over 40 years experience. you have been lucky. you will find that 95% of all fossil watches have miyota movements in them. Miyota are the bottom of the line, the sort that get put in fake watches or watches sub £40. As for the all stainless steel range, it would be the only ones i would buy. the reason you get a reaction from plated watches is most likely the nickel they use in the plating and the alloy underneath will have a high nickel content. So as your body reacts and starts to eat away at the plating the metal underneath reacts and then peels. For this reason i would never buy a plated watch.
Tbh, I would vote for that analog/digital Casio you linked. Looks sleek, cheap, and it's quite useful Oh, and Malfoleo? Get a real watch...
No clue, picked mine up at a local specialty watch retailer. Unfortunately, no, I don't want to wreck the leather. Oh, and Zephyr, it is a 'real' watch. It has mass and takes up space...
They're spendy little buggers: http://www.woodenheartltd.co.uk/shop/10/46/198/index.htm I guess that's to be expected with Diesel though.
any competent jeweller/stockist should be able to fit one for you. just look out for a renata battery sticker in the window/door. i wouldnt fit any other batteries to watches. never seen a renata leak, seen every make leak (literally every).
im on my 3rd fossil, and ive only switched between them because i liked the new one's looks better. the other 2 are still ticking, and when they stop, fossil replaces the batt's for free (you have to buy the battery) my last one here, it weighs next to nothing, titanium! i think that in itself is cool and like zap said, i dont get that supid itch on my wrist like with cheap watches.
well im talking about the fact that for £90 you can get a swiss all stainless steel watch with a swiss movement and a sapphire crystal glass. the movement isnt a sealed unit so can be repaired unlike fossil, in which they will throw the movement away. or... you can get a fossil with inferior build quality, poorer movement and a mineral glass. How much do they charge you for that battery?
hmm, it sounds like we have a watchmaker on our hands. well, in that case, there is no point in arguing, as im just a puny electronics guy. all i can say is that it works for me. and there is no way you can get a £90 swiss... id like a link from someone that ships to the US. riiiiight... and repairing it costs how much? might as well get a new watch, eh? $3, about £1.5
