I'm looking for stereo notebook speakers (or small desktop speakers) that work on a 12V power supply. Most run on 220V, so what I'd need is a pair with an expernal powerbrick that outputs 12V. Technical specs at places like Amazon rarely specify this. Cheap will do, needn't be great. Background: They'd go into my parents campervan (RV...Camper). They've got a 12V-flatscreen in there that has speakers the size of a pound-coin, and need to be turned fairly loud. The result is pretty much unbearable.
Hi Xir, If you dont mind used, these come with a 240v AC to 12v DC power supply that you could butcher and re-wire into the RV's 12v battery. My other other thought was a small 12v amp like this and a cheap pair of bookshelf speakers. The sound would be hugely improved but it ends up costing over £50 and isn't exactly elegant.
Thx! The first is the kind of speakers I meant. I like the little amp, could combine it with a set of build-in car speakers really. I'll have to look into that way. Not sure if they want something that ... permanent though.
Well, converting 12V to 220V to 12V (or 5V) just to power a pair of speakers... I'm too much an engineer to accept that
