    Amd 2500+ barton core @ 3200+
    512mb pc3200 geil ram
    120 gig sata drive
    ati 9800 pro 256mb
    abit nf7-s mobo
    sound blsater 2 zs plat
    cd drive bla bla bla
    anatec true 550watt psu

    alrite, i have a thermalake 11+ heatsink/fan i use it cuz i got it for free and its better then stock. I like running my comp as cool as possible, my rig is in a raidmax case and im getting a new one soon not sure?.. make sugestions. I have 120mm front intake, with an 80mm above it, 60mm or so for out takeand another 80mm blowing air through heatsink. I also have house fan a nice big one blowing on my cpu, because if i dont i get upper 50*c atleast full load. Im looking for some one to suggest a case, and new heatsink/fan if there are ne better ones that can achive cooler temps.

    O btw right now im running at like low 40s*c full load.

    SP97 or SLK900 heatsinks, coupled with a 90mm Enermax Adjustable Fan.

    If you want water, go with a 1/2" dangerden setup. Just make sure your willing to mod your case to make it fit. As for case picks, aluminum Chenming/Chieftec dragon cases are real popular with air-cooled setups because of the hard-drive cages, drive rails, side panel fan, stock window, and plenty of airflow. Then if you get aluminum, easy to move around.

    www.frozencpu.com has them, but they are always over-priced. Just an example though.

    My second choice would be a Cooler-Master Praetorian. It has less fans, but, slide out motherboard tray. And, full aluminum chassis.

    :search: Google for some WC sites (and visit the WC links sticky at the top of this forum), and read. A lot. Life does not come on a silver platter.

    ummm.. Did i ask for a silver platter????
    No im just asking for suggestoins :duh: :duh: :duh:

    Thanks guys, im leaning more twards staying with air cooled because from what i have been reading you really dont get a dramtic drop In temps with it.

    Oh yea? Hows 37C full load for you? With half its cooling power? (One fan, on a twin core. 7v)
    I don't know about P4, but my XP runs this cool. With a 23C ambient.

    37C = 98.6F
    23C = 73F

    Most aircoolers run anywhere from 40-50C full load. Depending on the overclock. I am running 1800mhz from 1533 @ 1.65v. With a super crap waterblock and old thermal paste (I reseated the sink without changing paste). Trust me, its about as crappy as 1/2" blocks get. If I switched to an RBX or TDX I bet you I'd see 30C load.

    But, as long as you keep your temps below 50C (XP can run up to 90C before exploding... but 50C is recommended limit for forum goers) then aircooling is fine. Infact I am thinking about dumping my rig. It just takes up too much damn room. If I do I am gonna try an SLK 900A w/Enermax.

    Btw, in the USA sidewindercomputers.com has it for $45 shipped with the enermax. While it costs that much at newegg without a fan or shipping. I give them a 9.5/10 too. I trust them as much as newegg. Infact, they were actually faster then newegg's "Take 3 days to pack your order" BS.

    Awesome. Chieftec dragons, and anything based off them are excellent platforms for aircooled setups.

    What you're asking for is:

    Why not browse through some cases you think you like, and Google up some recent heatsink and fan reviews. See which ones most reviews recommend. Then come back here and say: "Hey guys, I was thinking of going for X case with Y heatsink and Z fan. Whadaya think?" You will then get the right, valuable info of people's personal experience with said items, that you need to make up your mind.

    But don't expect others to cherry pick for you. That's just lazy, and given that each person has a different setup and different criteria for what they consider "cool", "quiet" and "the best case", they are unlikely to suggest what you, in your specific instance, need.

    Spend an afternoon browsing, and you'll find out everything you need, plus a lot more interesting stuff which may inspire your mod. It's how we all do it.
