    Hey people

Take a look at this picture of my case:

See the big, slightly dark spot in the top left corner?

Yeah, that's grease... probably one of my fingerprints.
And the overall "look" of the rest of the aluminium isn't good, either. I suspect there are a lot of fingerprints, grease and nastiness buried in the grooves of that brushed and anodized aluminium.

I'm looking for a product to clean this with.

Needless to say, the product must NOT leave any kind of residue/film that can be picked up when making photos of the end result OR seen when observed in real life...

So, how do I clean it? What are the best products out there?

A good metal polish would work great, i use auto-sol for my cars and my pc lol really good stuff gets rid all my greasy fingerprints and gives it a good buff shine. but having said that something like mr sheen household polish would work great as well.
    hope this helps

Deenatured alcohol (or something like surgical spirit, from your local pharmacy) should do the trick, and if it needs doing regularly won't have the side-effect of polish - which by it's nature removes a thin layer each time it is used, so could eventually wear through the anodizing.

#2: I'm pretty sure that polishing solutions would remove the very fine layer of black anodized aluminium?

#3: I've tried denatured ethanol on raw aliminium and it definately leaves behind some sort of film - looks kind like oil spilled on a wet road....

T cut car polish that'll get rid of that. Any sort of cutting compound should work.

get a rag, some soapy water and put some elbow grease along the grain if there are any grains. Thats the only water to remove grease without accidentaly your case side.

Try a microfiber cloth. wipe along the "grain".

If that fails, use soapy water or alcohol as already mentioned.

Noo! Any abrasive products will ruin brushed aluminum. Especially if it's anodized.

Denatured alcohol usually isn't pure alcohol and would leave a bit of residue due to the denaturing agent.
What you really want is very high purity Isopropyl Alcohol. At least the non-pure portion generally is water which will evaporate.

If cleaning leaves a mark, it could be that the alcohol actually cleans off the grease and the rest of the area is still greasy rather than the cleaned area actually having any residue.

On my Lian Li with the same finish I just use denatured alcohol (95%). With a piece of soft cloth and some alcohol I just rub along the grooves - it takes some elbow grease but it will remove the greasy markings. As for the film left behind it evaporates inside 10 minutes. Do NOT use abrasive products. It will create new grooves that will not match the grooves of the anodizing and so it will look like someone took a piece of sandpaper to your case.
